Haverfordwest County 0 – Airbus UK 1
Haverfordwest County’s poor run in the Welsh Premier continued with a one-goal defeat at home against Airbus UK on Saturday.
The game was in doubt, but despite heavy rain before and for the duration of the match, this was always going to be a tough slog for both teams.
The visitors dumped The Bluebirds out of the Welsh Cup just a few weeks ago at the Conygar Bridge Meadow.
Bluebirds’ goalkeeper Craig Morris was called into action when Ryan Wade’s long range effort was tipped over the crossbar.
Atrocious weather
Players were visibly struggling to keep their feet in atrocious wet conditions, and it always looked as though a mistake would possibly present a scoring chance, but the Bluebirds defence consisting of Ricky Watts, Spencer Williams, Sam Rodon and skipper Dale Griffiths played well throughout.
No goals in the first half, with heavy rain continuing to fall, it was a struggle for either team to carve out a decent scoring opportunity.
Jordan Barrow headed a corner just wide for the visitors, but soon after County centre back Sam Rodon had a header cleared off the line by defender Bailey Jackson, that was created from an excellent Kieran Howard corner.
Gray scores winner
On the 70 minute mark, the Wingmakers scored the only goal of hard fought clash. A ball wasn’t cleared inside the box and Tony Gray slid home a close range effort to secure the points.
