Haverfordwest County 1 – Rhyl 1
It finished all square in this bottom of the table Welsh Premier clash between Haverfordwest County and Rhyl played at a windswept Conygar Bridge Meadow.
Both teams came into this clash looking for a win to boost confidence, but both teams finishing in front of goal was poor, and it resulted in a draw with the visitors possibly thinking that their camp was the more hard done by.
Borrelli spot on
The homesters started brightly and were deservedly awarded a penalty in the ninth minute, Luke Borrelli confidently dispatched from 12 yards that gave the Bluebirds the lead.
However, for the remainder of the first period Rhyl pressed forward and constantly had the Bluebirds back four consisting of Ryan Batley, Sam Rodon, Spencer Williams and returning from injury skipper Dale Griffiths under pressure.
Level pegging
The visitors equalised in the 31st minute when Connor Bell scrambled home from close range, as the Bluebirds failed to clear their lines.
Craig Morris was the busier of the two keepers, and he pulled off two decent stops to make sure his side went into the interval level pegging.
After the break, both sides failed to create any decent goal scoring chances as it finished in a draw.
Next Saturday, Haverfordwest County entertain Airbus UK in the Welsh Cup at home, where Bluebirds boss Wayne Jones will be looking for his troops to get a positive result.
