Luke Borrelli has a low shot at goal

Luke Borrelli scored a dramatic late winner for The Bluebirds

Port Talbot Town 1 – Haverfordwest County 2

Substitute Luke Borrelli scored a brilliant 84th minute winner to secure Haverfordwest County the points against Port Talbot Town on a wet and miserable Tuesday evening at the Genquip Stadium.

Jordan Follows gave the visitors an early lead that was cancelled out by a goal from Port Talbot Town substitute Martin Rose shortly after half time.

Port Talbot looked the more likely to snatch victory as they pressed for a winner, but a poor pass by Cortez Belle across his own box fell to Borrelli, who looked up and saw keeper Steven Cann off his line, and struck a delightful chip into the back of the net to secure three points for Wayne Jones’ Bluebirds team.

Earlier in the season, Haverfordwest County lost 1-2 at home against The Steelmen, but this sweet win, only their third of the campaign, would have boosted the Bluebirds' confidence.

Jordan Follows opened the scoring in the seventh minute, the striker cut into the box and struck a low shot in the far corner.

Steelmen stunned

This goal stunned the homesters and the Bluebirds were unlucky not to add to their lead, as Follows came close to scoring another in the 24th minute.

Haverfordwest County boss Jones would have been pleased that his outfit had the better of the opening 45 minutes exchanges.

All square

The visitors were dealt a blow in the 48th minute as Rose equalised, the substitute made no mistake with a low shot from close range.

The Steelmen cranked up the pressure as Rose struck a fierce goalbound shot in the 60th minute, it rebounded for Belle who headed agonisingly wide.

In the 70th minute, the Steelmen came close to taking the lead, Jonathan Hood striking a shot from distance that flew over Scott James’ crossbar.

But six minutes from full time, Belle’s error was punished fully by Borrelli who calmly lobbed Cann for a stunning winner.
