A cracking all-round display earned Haverfordwest County their first league win of the campaign against fellow new boys MBi Llandudno on the Conygar Bridge Meadow Stadium.Bluebirds’ first win moves them off the bottom of the table

This superb win for the Bluebirds lifts them off the bottom of the table, with manager Wayne Jones delighted that his side won and kept a clean sheet.

A first half strike from Steffan Williams and a powerful second half header by Dale Griffiths clinched three welcome points for the Bluebirds.

The visitors could have opened the scoring as early as the tenth minute when Gareth Evans toe-poked a chance over the crossbar.

Steffan strikes

The Bluebirds opened their goal scoring account in the 20th minute when Luke Borelli’s by-line cross was controlled by John Roberts who passed to Steffan Williams, who drilled a low right-footed shot into the far corner.

Just three minutes later and the visitors nearly levelled matters as Tom Dix fired a shot wide of the target.

In the 29th minute Greg Walters replaced Liam Hutchinson in midfield, as the latter pulled up after a heavy knock to his leg. Teenager Walters grabbed his opportunity to shine as he worked tirelessly for the remainder of the game and was a constant thorn in the Llandudno’s side.

James Joyce struck a left foot volley which was well saved by Scott James at his near post as the visitors pressed hard for an equaliser.

Marc Williams headed over the bar and a Lee Thomas wicked free kick was cleared by a Ryan Batley header.
In the second half, possession and territory was probably even with neither side carving open a decent goal scoring chance.

Cracking header

But the Bluebirds finally grabbed a superb second goal. Kieran Howard’s corner was half cleared, straight to Borrelli who passed back to Howard - who whipped in a curling cross that skipper Dale Griffiths powerfully headed into the back of the net to secure a morale-boosting victory to a very happy Bluebirds’ camp.
