Haverfordwest County 2 – Briton Ferry Llansawel 0
Haverfordwest County have moved to second in the table after gaining uninspiring two-goal victory against Briton Ferry Llansawel at the Conygar Bridge Meadow.
It was not a thrilling display by the Bluebirds, but nonetheless, it was three points that left Haverfordwest County manager Wayne Jones in a happy mood.
“It was not a majestic performance, but it is the final result that counts - and we’ve got what we set out to achieve,” said Jones.
Early goal
The homesters opened the scoring in the third minute that settled the nerves, left back Antonio Facciuto’s direct free-kick was tipped over the bar by Ferry goalkeeper Luke Probert, from the resulting corner striker Jordan Follows scored with a spectacular over-head kick.
Despite pressing and being in control for long periods the Bluebirds failed to score any further goals in the first half.
Vicious shot
After the break and Declan Carroll replaced Owen Thomas and the substitute struck a vicious shot from 20 yards that skimmed the crossbar.
With only minutes remaining Luke Borelli scored a crucial second goal, the striker drilled home a shot from a tight angle that crept in at the far post.
The Bluebirds are now only two points behind leaders Cardiff Metropolitan University, but have a game in hand, win that, then they will go top.
