Welsh League Division One
Cardiff Met 2 – Haverfordwest County 0
Haverfordwest County slipped to an extremely disappointing two-goal defeat at Cardiff Met University.
The visitors stay top of the table on goal difference from second placed Caerau (Ely), and have a game in hand.
Award curse
Before the game Bluebirds’ boss Wayne Jones was handed the Welsh League Manager of the Month award, but that trophy cursed the visitors' luck on the afternoon.
Elliot Scotcher, formerly of Tenby, gave the students the lead in the 27th minute, the midfielder capitalising on an error in defence.
Scotcher scores twice
Midway through the second period and Scotcher added his second goal of the game, a well struck free-kick from the edge of the area evaded the wall and goalkeeper Craig Morris.
On a positive note Steffan Davies came off the bench to make his debut for the Bluebirds, the striker was a regular with Bow Street who play in the Mid Wales League.
Manager Jones said afterwards, “We were not at our best today, and got what we deserved.”
