Caerau Ely 2 – Haverfordwest County 0
Haverfordwest County suffered an extremely disappointing two-goal defeat at the hands of Caerau Ely at their Cwrt-yr Ala ground..
The team from Cardiff bagged a goal in each half by Rameer Outlaw and Andrew Smith to secure the points; as the visitors went down to their second league defeat of the season in five outings.
Worst 45 minutes
“The first 45 minutes has to be the worst display from any team I’ve been involved with,“ said Bluebirds manager Wayne Jones. “The players definitely did not put in a shift; some of them didn’t even come in the changing rooms with a sweat on their brow.”
This was evident as poor marking at a corner allowed Outlaw to header in at the far post for the first goal in the 20th minute.
Scoring chances wasted
The visitors failed to take their chances to level matters in the second half. Sam Wilson and Darren Griffiths both missed one-on-ones and skipper Dale Griffiths headed over the crossbar.
Caerau put the result beyond doubt as they scored a second goal in the 85th minute, some excellent approach play ended with Smith scoring with an easy tap-in.
