Haverfordwest County finish with end of season presentation nightHaverfordwest County held their annual end of season dinner and presentation evening at the Clarbeston Road Memorial Hall.

The Bluebirds finished fourth in the Welsh League Division One and the Youth team finished seventh in the Youth West League table and were also runners-up in the League Youth Cup Final.

Expectations were running high as the senior team were the league leaders at Christmas, but their form dipped in the second half of the campaign, and their aspirations of finishing in a top two place to secure a Welsh Premier spot were diminished as they had to settle for fourth.

Positive note

Chairman David Hughes gave a full account of how the disappointing season unfolded, but on a positive note manager Wayne Jones and assistant Sean Cresser will be in charge again to lead Haverfordwest County’s charge for the title next season. Manager Steve Batty and assistant Colin Fawcett are likely to continue their excellent work with the youth team.

The master of ceremonies for the eveniHaverfordwest County finish with end of season presentation nightng was Bill Carne, who kept everyone informed and amused.

Councillor Roy Thomas attended the evening on his first official engagement after being sworn in the day before as Haverfordwest Town Mayor, and he presented some of the awards alongside Supporters' Club chairman Alan Thomas/.

The long serving Kenny Ellis was granted Life Membership and presented with a clock by the chairman, who also thanked him sincerely for collecting the club’s Bluebirds’ Tote for many years. David Hughes also made a presentation to Peter Lewis, who has stepped down as chairman of the Bridge Meadow Trust, for his support of the club.

Clean sweep

Brilliant centre back Sam Rodon made it a 'clean sweep' of awards at senior level, picking up the player of the year, players’ player and supporters’ player trophies, for his consistent displays over the course of the season.

At youth level Liam Fawcett collected the manager's player award and Laurie Haworth won the players' player of the year, and both these talented players will surely be knocking on the door for a regular place in the senior squad next season.

Barrie Webb was deservedly handed the Supporters’ Association Clubman of the year trophy by Alan Thomas.
