Tata Steel 1 – Haverfordwest County 1

Thiswas a game that Haverfordwest County really should have won despite going a goal behind at third from bottom Tata Steel.
Hicks’ late header saves Bluebirds’ blushes

After this disappointing draw the Bluebirds currently sit third, four points behind second placed Taffs Well and leaders Monmouth Town who are the same points.

Had this been a boxing contest the referee would have stopped it in the first half as the visitors completely dominated in every phase of play.

Rue missed chances

Manager Wayne Jones will rue the missed scoring chances that his Bluebirds players missed and Tata Steel’s goalkeeper Steffan Rogers pulled off some
stunning saves to deny the all-out attack Bluebirds.

The visitors could have easily led by four goals at half time, but incredibly they did not convert one opportunity. Dylan Blain and Sam Rodon both missed sitters, Declan Carroll skied a wayward shot over the crossbar, Steffan Williams had a point blank effort snuffed out by Rogers and Ritchie Lewis struck a fierce left foot drive inches past the post.

Tata take lead

To make matters worse for the Welsh Premier hopefuls the homesters took the lead against the run of play in the 55th minute when striker Geraint Goodridge looped his shot over stranded visitors’ keeper Craig Morris.

Just 14 minutes from full time and the visitors equalised to earn a precious point when all could have been lost. Steffan Williams’ floated cross from the right fell kindly for striker Tim Hicks to header in at the far post.

The Bluebirds got to quickly pick themselves up for their next game that is at Goytre United on Wednesday night (April 15th) kick-off at 7.30pm.
