Dylan Blain scored a late consolation goal for well beaten Haverfordwest County
Welsh League Division One
Aberdare Town 3 - Haverfordwest County 1
Aberdare Town striker Sam Small scored twice to earn a thoroughly deserved victory over league leaders Haverfordwest County.
The homesters also beat the Bluebirds by the same margin at the Conygar Bridge Meadow and they achieved the double over the title chasing rivals.
Small double
Small opened the scoring in the 25th minute from the penalty spot after Bluebirds’ skipper Dale Griffiths brought down former Bluebird Jamie Bradford in the box.
Five minutes later and Aberdare doubled their lead, Small making no mistake with a neat finish from 12 yards out.
French connection
Richard French put the game beyond the visitors reach when he added a third goal on the hour mark.
Fifteen minutes from the end Dylan Blain pulled a goal back as he latched onto a good cross from left back Antonio Faccuito, but it was Aberdare who stood firm for the remainder to record their 12th win of the season as the leaders slumped to their fourth defeat.
Next Saturday, 29th March, Haverfordwest County are away again, this time their opponents are Pontardawe Town.
