West End 2 – Haverfordwest County 1

Haverfordwest County slipped to a bitterly disappointing defeat against bottom end of the table West End at Pri Deri Park.

Sean Chapple’s brilliant 25 yard left footed strike in the 75th minute earned West End their fourth win of the season, and they have taken four points off the Bluebirds this season in two matches, and manager Wayne Jones was bitterly disappointed with the final outcome.

“We were poor and the lads really have to take a long hard look at their individual performances. “It’s simple we were not good enough today or last week and this our second defeat in a row,” said Jones. “I will have to look to bring in some fresh blood as we can’t afford to drop anymore silly points.”

Watts sent off

The visitors’ cause was not helped when they went down to ten-men in the 32nd minute as right back Ricky Watts was sent-off for fouling Colin Harries inside the box and destroying a goal-scoring opportunity. Harries dusted himself off and successfully made no mistake with the resulting penalty.

However, six minutes later and striker Tim Hicks glanced in Luke Borrelli’s cross and squared matters at one-goal apiece at half time.

Wonder strike

The visitors were constantly put on the back foot in the second half and Chapple’s wonder strike deservedly decided this game and piled plenty of pressure on Bluebirds boss Jones who knows that nothing less than reaching the Welsh Premier this season is what is required.

Haverfordwest County face a crunch match next Saturday, when they travel to league leaders Taffs Well who are two points ahead of the out of form second placed Bluebirds.
