Cwmbran Celtic 0 – Haverfordwest County 4

Luke Borrelli scored twice and helped Haverfordwest County to a convincing four-goal victory at third from bottom Cwmbran Celtic.

This game was over as a contest by half time as the Bluebirds led 3-0 with only 20 minutes on the clock, Tim Hicks scored a goal sandwiched between Borrelli’s well-taken double, and on the hour mark Chris O’Sullivan added a fourth to wrap up the points.

Joint top

The Bluebirds have gone joint top with Taffs Well, who lost 2-0 at fourth-placed Monmouth Town, but have two games in hand. Playing with a stiff wind in their favour the visitors took the lead as early as the fourth minute, the lively Borrelli chipping the home keeper from distance.

Hicks added a second goal in the 12th minute, the striker, latching on to a through ball before making no mistake from 12 yards. Borrelli added a third in the 20th minute, capitalising from a rebound off the keeper.

Sublime free-kick

On the hour mark O’Sullivan scored with a sublime free-kick from the edge of the area, which gave the keeper no chance of stopping.

The homesters let frustration get the better of them as they had two players sent-off and finished the game with nine-men, but the visitors failed to score any further goals despite their numerical advantage.

Haverfordwest County’s next game is next Saturday, December 21st against Caerau (Ely) at the Conygar Bridge Meadow Stadium, where kick off is at 2.30pm.
