Pre-season friendly

Aberystwyth 1 - Haverfordwest County 1

Both clubs should be very pleased with this work out. Although pre -season friendlies are not all about the final result, this was a very competitive encounter in which both defences came out on top for the majority of the game.

The first half was played at a brisk pace but goal scoring chances were very rare. Joe Leahy, Richie Lewis were prominent up front for the Bluebirds and both Ricky Watts and Antonio Faccuito overlapped well and  both were strong in defence too.

In the second half, Aberystwyth pushed forward for long periods but in the main the Bluebirds' defence stood firm with Sam Roden and Dale Griffiths both contributing well . After a succession of corners the home team went ahead on 82 minutes when Sion James took his chance at the far post by neatly volleying home.

County fought back determinedly and within three minutes were level when skipper Dale Griffiths got on the end of a Chris O'Sullivan free kick to equalise.

Sean Cresser should be very pleased with his charges after this performance. Jack Britton, Rob Morgans and Dylan Blain were hard working throughout and young Bruno Forkuoh looked sharp and appeared to play with more confidence on this occasion. Greg Walters worked hard up front too and showed glimpses of real potential.

Manager Wayne Jones returns from holiday on Monday and he will be well pleased to hear of the positive progress that his squad has made over the past ten days.
