Welsh Youth Cup:
Young Otters shrug off marathon trip to win well
Nant Conwy 0 - Narberth 29
In their first round match of the Welsh Youth Cup, Narberth made the long journey to Nant Conwy in North Wales and after a four-hour journey the coaches were concerned that it would take some time for the team to get into their stride.
They needn’t have worried, however, as Narberth hit the ground running with good interplay getting them close to a try in the first few minutes. A try soon followed from a flowing move, with multiple phases before Brad Cramb released hard running Max Morgan. He was held short but the busy Elliot Evans nipped over in the corner.
Narberth scored again with another impressive try. Once more a multi-phase attack ended with Wil Nicholas plunging over and he also converted .
The second half saw Narberth completely dominant. A long range penalty from Wil Nicholas was followed by tries from impressive hooker Harley Young and the ever-excellent Iestyn Comey. Wil Nicholas converted both to leave the final score stood at 29-0.
There were some strong performances from Kyle Day, Joel Davies and Yori Morgan but man of the match went to centre Brad Cramb for his overall contribution where the Young Otters produced an impressive squad display.
Narberth: Dan Jones, Max Morgan, George Jones, Brad Cramb, Alex Coaker, Shay Norcross, Elliot Evans, Kyle Day, Yori Morgan, Wil Nicholas, Harry Harries, Iestyn Comey, James Morgan, Harley Young, Joel Davies.
Wood leads by example as Crymych Youth look good
Crymych 50 - Morriston O
Crymych skipper Iestyn Wood certainly led by example against Morriston as he ran in three more tries despite a nasty facial injury as they were worthy winners and will be hoping for another match at Parc Lloyd Thomas in the next round.
The Young Preseli side showed good discipline and joining Wood, who was voted man of the match for his overall play, which also included good work in defence allied to excellent ball carrying which helped to set up some other scores, with Ptolemy Alleyne catching the eye with his powerful surges.
Dylan Scott played well in the centre and a positive feature of Crymych’s general play was their improved play in the linesout after a lot of hard work in training and joining Wood on the scoresheet were prop Richard Phillips, Dan Page, Deian Davies, Jac Delaney and Owain Davies, who also did well to land five conversions in the tricky wind.
The result was scoring 50 points and keeping a clean sheet at the other end, another thing that comes from so much effort in training!

Welsh Youth Bowl:
Wasps win as reward for some good rugby
Llangwm Youth 18 - Carmarthen Athletic 14
Llangwm continue to show real progress as a team and this latest Bowl victory saw them take on and beat a strong Carmarthen Athletic squad at Pill Parks.
The Young Wasps led 8-7 after a hard-fought first half and scrum half Ioan Hawkridge Jones managed the game well alongside Harry Makepeace and Fletcher Picton to score an excellent try from a strong break and kick through by centre Liam Rees and the No 9 also set up the try for skipper Arwyn O’Loughlin
The back row of Sam Rickwood, Flynn Tjoonk and especially Joe Phillips covered well in defence and were strong ball carriers and as well as a conversion by full back Iwan Davies there were also two well-struck penalties from Picton.
For The Athletic there were strong performances by Dan Thomas, a constant threat in the centre, Dafydd Ebsworth, who was rewarded with a try, Lewis Thomas at No 10 and Harry Connick at full back, who was always involved and converted both tries, with the second one scored by Jack Bennett.
The visitors pressed hard with the game drawing to a close and a try needed for victory and referee David Byrne yellow-carded three Young Wasps so they did well to hold on in a game that was a credit to both camps!
