Tigers beat Herbie for second week on the trot

There was only one game played in the Manderwood Pembrokeshire Football League First Division on Saturday, as all the other teams were involved in the first round of the West Wales Intermediate Cup.

Johnston narrowly defeated Herbrandston 2-1 at the Glebelands Ground. Both teams met last week and the Tigers sneaked that result 3-2, so they are over the moon that they have completed the double over last season’s Second Division champions.

Ryan Doyle scored the opener with a header that gave the Tigers a one-goal cushion at the break. Luke Hayward doubled the lead, the experienced midfielder making no mistake with his spot-kick. Shane Walsh pulled a goal back for Herbie, but they could not find another way past Tigers keeper Joel Codd late on and had to settle for their third straight defeat.
