Woodrow late double helps Vikings to emphatic cup win at Trostre
FAW Trophy – Round 3
Trostre 0 - Hakin United 4

Hakin United gained an emphatic victory over shell shocked Trostre to progress to the next round of the FAW Trophy.
This tie was called off last week due to a waterlogged pitch, so the hosts switched it to a nearby 3G pitch to ensure it went ahead.
Carmarthenshire Premier League outfit Trostre came into this tie, sitting in fifth position in the table and also unbeaten from three league outings.
Hakin manager Scott Davies was a happy man on Saturday evening after the Vikings gained a comprehensive win, because his team grabbed four goals, kept a clean sheet, and moved into the next round without too much trouble.
The Hakin goal scorers were Leon Luby, who gave his team a slender 1-0 cushion at half time, and after the break Jake Merry and a Nicky Woodrow brace added further goals to secure their thoroughly deserved success.
In the 18
th minute the visitors broke the deadlock when the recent re-signing Adam ‘Titch’ John beat a couple of defenders before his delightful cross was met by a firm Luby header.
The hosts cleared off their own goal line and defended well at corners, but in the second period the Vikings controlled the tempo of the game and were rewarded with three further goals.
In the 54
th minute Jake Merry’s shot cum cross evaded everyone as it found the back of the net.
Ten minutes from full time Luby crossed for deadly Woodrow to pounce from 16 yards for goal number three.
In the 87
th minute the Vikings added a fourth when Ben Aldred’s well measured corner was headed home by Woodrow.
Next Saturday, 12
th November, Hakin United have an important Welsh Cup date with Holywell Town at the Observatory Ground - and the following week travel back to Trostre for a tussle in the West Wales Intermediate Cup.
