Ladies Indoor Cricket - Division Two - 20th December 2023

Easy wins for Whitland and St Ishmaels

There were only two matches played on Wednesday evening because Llanrhian were sadly unable to field a team and so lost top spot as a result, but Whitland moved into first place at Christmas with their 43-run victory over basement side Pembroke 2nds, with St Ishmaels strolling home against Neyland.

Ace organiser Sam Rossiter announced afterwards that the next rounds of games in both sections will restart in the New Year, 2024!

Whitland

Whitland 71 for 2 (13) beat Pembroke 2nds 28 for 5 (1)

Whitland easily accounted for Pembroke Seconds as they scored 71 for 2 in their allotted eight overs thanks to a hard-hitting 24 for Kelly Rogers, made from only 15 balls and containing two boundaries. Support was provided by Aoife Sharpe, Millie Lee and Tegan Ryan as Chloe Jones and Tracey White were the only successful Pembroke bowlers.

Then all the Whitland bowlers bowled good lines and were supported by excellent ground fielding and catching as Pembroke could only muster 28 for 5 from their eight overs. Karen Evans top scored with 9 from 22 balls and there were 8 extras as Tegan Ryan was the pick of the Whitland bowlers, with other wickets for Aoife Sharpe and Mille Lee.

Whitland: Kelly Rogers 24n, Aoife Sharpe 9, Millie Lee 14*, Tegan Ryan 13* - Tracey White 1-12, Chloe Jones 1-13.

Pembroke 2nds: Karen Evans 9, Extras 8 - Tegan Ryan 2-6, Aoife Sharpe 1-3, Fflur Davies 0-5, Millie Lee 1-3.

St Ishmaels

Neyland 31 for 5 (1) lost to St Ishmaels 32 for 2 (14)

Batting first, Neyland really struggled to make any headway against a St Ishmaels’ side that gave a chance to bowl to all six players and still restricted the opposition to 28 for 5 in their allotted overs.

Rachel McGuire conceded only six runs from her two overs and there was a wicket each for Lucy Patterson (only four runs conceded in her two overs) and Tei Tallett as Jazmin Kerrison top-scored for Neyland, with Linzi Picton, Lola Phillips and Chalotte Couston giving good Tish support with the ball.

Tish made a disappointing start as Linzi Picton and Rachel McGuire departed early but Lucy Patterson ended unbeaten on 6 and Charlotte Couston belted an undefeated 14 in eight balls (two fours) to see Tish home in only 3.5 overs despite the bowling of Bethan Chapman, Jessica Bevan and Lowis Hughes.

Neyland: Jazmin Kerrison 9, Extras 8 – Lucy Patterson 1-4, Tei Tallett (1 for 1), Linzi Picton (0-3) Lola Phillips 0-7, Rachel McGuire 0-6, Lola Phillips (0-7).

St Ishmaels:  Lucy Patterson 6*, Charlotte Couston 14* - Bethan Chapman 1-2, Jessica Bevan 1-5, Lowis Hughes 0-6.
