Both sides failed to find the back of the net as Haverfordwest County fought out a goalless draw with derby rivals Carmarthen Town.

As the score line suggests there were limited opportunities in front of goal, with neither side able to convert to secure three precious points.

The Bluebirds went close to scoring in the ninth minute, striker John Roberts striking a left footed shot over the bar; in the 23rd minute the striker also missed a decent chance from inside the box.

Under pressure

The Old Gold were under pressure with Bluebirds centre back Sean Pemberton going close to opening the home outfit’s goal scoring account. Three minutes before half time Liam Thomas failed to capitalise with the Old Gold’s best scoring chance of the first period.

In the second period, this derby clash carried on in the same vein, with Bluebirds keeper Scott James and Town keeper Lee Idzi having very little to do.

Luke Borrelli struck a sweet first time half volley from a poor Town half clearance over the crossbar.

Idzi’s fine save

Then the Bluebirds could have snatched victory in injury time, when substitute Declan Carroll drove a low shot from 12 yards, but keeper Idzi did well to palm the effort wide at full stretch so that’s how it finished with both teams settling for a point apiece.
