Mikey sets out on a new boxing challenge

Mikey O Sullivan yesterdayFor a number of years Mikey O’Sullivan, whose family live at Stop & Call, Goodwick, has been a leading amateur boxer in his age and weight category but he is soon to take on a tough challenge as he moves into a new era for him as he enters the professional boxing world, with his first fight scheduled to take place soon.

Mikey will make his debut against an experienced ‘journeyman’ in Jose Manuel Lopez, who originally hails from Nicaragua, at the Utilita Arena in Cardiff, on the undercard of a show put on by Ben Shalom of ‘Boxxer’ promoting fame. where another Welsh boxer in the great Lauren Price fights Stephanie Pineiro in her latest top of the bill challenge for the unified World Welterweight titles.

After so many years as a top amateur, Mikey has showed total commitment as he has moved to Manchester so that he can be managed and coached by the well-known Anthony Krolla - and has been training very hard because he knows how demanding the pro world is.

Mikey is now 19 years old and leaves behind him an amateur record that includes an impressive FIVE Welsh Championships in the junior ranks before moving into the youth category and not only became British champion but won the bronze medal in the world championships - and some pundits ringside felt he had done enough to win and box in the final.

He also won the Moldovan Belt title with a superb exhibition of his skills - but all that is in the past now and he is fully committed to his debut, which takes place on the 4th April - and local boxing fans, and Pembrokeshire Sport lovers, will wish him a very successful debut and every success in his professional career!
