Haverfordwest County 0 – Aberystwyth Town 1
Substitute Jack Rimmer’s late goal earned Aberystwyth Town a slender victory over bottom of the table Haverfordwest County at the Conygar Bridge Meadow.

This Boxing Day fixture was a close call, the defining moment came in the 79
th minute when Rimmer’s speculative cross-cum-shot from the touchline sailed over Bluebirds goalkeeper Craig Morris and straight into the back of the net.
It was a cruel blow for the hosts, who at the very least deserved a draw against the mid Wales outfit.
Conditions were windy, and it was the visitors who started brightly with Geoff Kelaway dragging a low shot across the face of the Bluebirds’ goal.
However, the hosts went close midway through the first period when Luke Borrelli, after combining with Kieran Howard and Steffan Williams, struck a curling shot straight at Aber keeper Mike Lewis.
Hit the post
Just before the break the home outfit were unlucky not to take the lead, Borrelli who looked dangerous all afternoon struck a shot from the edge of the area that struck Lewis’ post.
In the second period it was nip and tuck with neither side creating a decent goal scoring chance, but 11 minutes from full time Rimmer struck what many described as a fluky winner, but they all count and now the Bluebirds go to Aber on New Year’s Day looking for sweet revenge.
