Haverfordwest County 1 – Cambrian & Clydach 0
Haverfordwest County moved two points clear at the table after this hard-fought one-goal victory against Cambrian & Clydach at the Conygar Bridge Meadow Stadium.
The only goal of the game was scored a minute after half time, when striker Steffan Williams scored with a crisp volley that was created from a deep Dan Williams' corner.
Early chances
The Bluebirds missed early half chances through Dan Williams and skipper Sean Pemberton.
The home outfit had a lucky escape when Cambrian skipper and veteran striker Richard French struck a wicked shot which was cleared off the line by centre back Sam Rodon.
Cracking save
Haverfordwest County young goalkeeper Conah McFenton pulled off an excellent save to deny Cameron Keech from an edge of the area direct free kick.
The crucial winner by Williams came just after the interval, and minutes later Ricky Watts’ shot cum cross struck Daniel Bradley’s crossbar with the keeper looking helplessly on.
Declan Carrol replaced Nicky Palmer in midfield, after the latter picked up a yellow card for a clumsy tackle in the first period.
Thick of action
Greg Walters once again worked tirelessly in midfield; he was constantly in the thick of the action.
The visitors piled on the pressure but they came up against a brick wall of a defence consisting of Tim Hicks, Sam Rodon, Matthew Broome and Kristian Speak, with Pemberton also helping out to shut out the visitors as The Bluebirds picked up their seventh win of the season from ten outings.
