James Olyott

James Olyott - Aged 40

James Olyott will referee the Senior Cup Final between Clarbeston Road and Hakin United as reward for earning a reputation as a solid, no-nonsense match official since he started out with the whistle in 2011.

Since then he has reffed the Division Five Final (2014/15) and the Division Two Final (2016/17), as well as being an assistant referee to Angus Scourfield in the 2016/17 Senior Cup Final between Goodwick United and Hakin United.

Prior to taking up the whistle James played all his football as a central defender with Pembroke Borough after being taken to London Road to watch the Boro play in the Welsh League by his grandfather Walter Jones and being an ardent fan ever since. He knew it was time to hang up his playing boots as he ached more and more after matches and started refereeing the club when there was no official available and Referees’ Society president Danny Thomas told him he should be in the middle at higher levels. So he took the exam and hasn’t looked back since – admitting that he still loves being involved in football as much as ever!

Gavin Southcott

Gavin Southcott - Aged 53

Gavin Southcott played all his football at Bush Camp with Pennar Robins, apart from a couple of seasons at Monkton Swifts – and was hugely respected as a tough-as-teak central midfielder who can lay claim to having been a winner in the Senior Cup both as a player and a manager.

He also has a winner’s medal in every division, apart from the first division, and played his last game (so far!) when he was managing the Robins and found himself a player short. He had already reffed for eight seasons before he answered the call to go back and manage at Bush Camp and this is his second season back in the middle, where his quietly assertive manner has earned lots of respect from players who recognise his playing experience.

Gareth Elliott

Gareth Elliott - Aged 35

Gareth Elliott's selection as assistant referee is reward for 12 years of officiating in Manderwood Pembrokeshire League matches and more recently as an assistant ref in the Welsh League.

He had played in midfield for Prendergast Villa and Haverfordwest County but at 23 was told by Steve John, the manager of the Bluebirds' second string, that the league was looking for match officials and Gareth decided he would give it a go.

He attended the course organised by Pedr McMullen and after starting out in division five games is now reffing across the local football spectrum and can often be seen running the line at Haverfordwest County matches at the Conygar Bridge Meadow Stadium. Gareth has already been in the middle for the third and fourth division finals and is eagerly anticipating being involved in the smooth running of the final.

Charles Davies

Charles Davies - Aged 52

Charles Davies 52 Charles is in his 11th season as a referee and is following in the tradition of the referee from the previous final using that experience to take on the role of fourth official a year later.

He used his quiet but firm, control of matches during his big day when Merlins Bridge beat Clarbeston Road in an entreating game where he did well to keep the game flowing.

He has previously officiated at the Fourth Division Cup Final, the West Wales under 16s Cup Final and a range of junior finals in Pembrokeshire - and was fourth official to Dave Badger at the Liberty Stadium when Team Swansea beat Ystradgynlais in the West Wales Cup Final.

He played his football for Carew, St Florence and Tenby; eventually coaching a hugely talented Tenby Junior team.
