Haverfordwest County 1 – Cambrian & Clydach 0
Haverfordwest County gained a slender one-goal victory against second in the table Cambrian & Clydach at the Conygar Bridge Meadow Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The Bluebirds were without strikers Ashley Bevan (suspended) and Steffan Davies (injured) and switched Jamie Evans up top.
Heavy rain made life difficult, but the Bluebirds grabbed the decisive winner on the 40 minute mark, and it was a brilliantly well-worked team goal.
Brilliant goal
Goalkeeper Jamie Gwilt’s goal kick reached Kieran O’ Brien, the midfielder flicked on a header into the path of Steff Williams, his pass Lee Hudgell in space and he struck a low cross into the box that Dalling slid in underneath keeper Steven Hall.
There weren’t many other scoring chances created the visitors carved out two opportunities in the second half that were comfortably dealt with by Gwilt.
County could have added more goals with Greg Walters striking a low shot which was superbly saved by Hall, and Hudgell’s corner was met by skipper Sean Pemberton who headed over the crossbar.
“The boys worked hard in difficult conditions and got three excellent points against a good side,” said player co-boss Chris O’Sullivan.
“I’m happy with the whole squad and now we need to go again next week.”
Next Saturday, Haverfordwest County are home against Taffs Well, and will be looking for another positive result, the game will kick off at 2.30pm.
