Plenty of goals scored in the first division

There were 35 goals in total scored in seven matches in the Manderwood Pembrokeshire Football League First Division on Saturday, an average of five per game.

Champions Hakin United won 3-1 at Goodwick United to stay in second position in the table. Justin Harding (2) and James Stanmore scored for the Vikings. Hakin skipper Ewan Findlay received his marching orders for deliberately stopping the ball on the goal line with his hand, and from the resulting penalty Tom Jones blazed the ball over the crossbar. Stephen Evans pulled back a late consolation goal for the homesters, but the ten-men stood firm for an important victory.

Rob Shipton (2), Stephen McNabney and Peter Thomas netted for Merlins Bridge who won 4-0 at Hundleton and moved them up to third in the ladder.

Monkton Swifts defeated Saundersfoot 3-1 at home. Joe Lewis, Matthew Davies and Ben Adams netted for the home outfit, whilst Chris Milward scored for the visitors.

League leaders Narberth thrashed Pennar Robins 6-1 at Jesse Road. Jordan Williams (3), Tony Evans, Matthew Price and Iestyn Scourfield scored for the high-flying Bluebirds. Josh Sture scored with a penalty for the visitors’ solitary goal.

Billy Vaughan (2), Jordan Richards and Richard Perry netted for Tenby who easily accounted for St Clears 4-0 on their home ground.

Nicky Woodrow (4), Joe John, Luke Hayward (pen), and Steve Mills helped Johnston to a convincing 7-4 victory at St Ishmaels. Lewy Davies and Jack Palmer (2) scored in vain for Tish.

West Dragons drew 1-1 with Neyland at home. Both goals were scored from the penalty spot. Sean Hannon made no mistake for the Nomads and Scott Crawford hit the target on his return for the Dragons, the striker transferring back from Goodwick United earlier in the week.
