Pembrokeshire produces stars in Special Olympics
Pembrokeshire athletes recently attended the Special Olympics Summer games in Bath as members of the Welsh Team and produced some excellent performances.
The results were as follows;
James Tyler from Milford Haven, an athlete with Pembrokeshire Harriers competed in;
100 metres with a time of 13.13 seconds which is a personal best
200 metres with a time of 28.6 seconds which is a personal best
Soft Ball he threw 36 metres gaining a silver medal
In the 4 x 100 metre relay the team was placed 4
th
Rhys Eynon (Haverfordwest), a swimmer with Pembrokeshire Puffins, competed in:
100 metre freestyle, where he gained a gold medal
4 x 100metre relay, where he gained a bronze medal
Breast stroke 50 metres, coming fourth.

Gained a gold medal in the 50 metre front crawl
Silver in the 25 metre front crawl
Richard Young (Tenby) a swimmer with Pembrokeshire Puffins;

100 metre freestyle was sixth
50 metre freestyle came seventh

50 metre back stroke he gained a gold
50 metre front crawl he gained a gold
4x100 relay he gained a bronze
100 metre freestyle he was placed fifth
Jemma Bowie-Hallam from Milford Haven, a gymnast with PSNGC;
A’ Bars gained a silver medal
Beam she gained a silver medal
Vault she gained a silver medal
Floor she gained a silver medal
Overall she gained a silver medal

Victoria Walters (Tenby), a gymnast with PSNGC

The Welsh Gymnastics team of 10 gymnasts had terrific results of 24 Gold medals, 16 Silver medals and 10 Bronze medals, and head coach Jean Jones (Burton) was understandably delighted by the performances of all who took part.
