Hook 266-4 Neyland 210-10

Hook triumphed by 56 runs in an excellent game of cricket, enjoyed by all those taking part on a beautiful sunny evening.

Neyland batted first scoring 210. Their total would have been much higher but for some excellent bowling and catching by the Hook youngsters which saw them take 10 wickets. Atticus (13) batted really well to lead the way in the run scoring stakes for Neyland. Ollie Rees took two tremendous catches to go with one from Dillon James.

Pembroke Dock Under 11sOn the bowling front Morgan Bowen snapped up 3 wickets, his first in hard ball cricket, to go with 3 for Liam Miller and 2 for Ollie Rees. Dillon James, Tom Hayes also picked up a wicket apiece. The standard of fielding was excellent.

Hook set off in pursuit with Liam Miller scoring an early 12 runs. Oscar Willington (13) top scored, his innings including two lovely boundaries. Noah Goodridge and Tom Hayes also made good contributions. For Neyland Gabby, Gethin, Issac and George all took a wicket each. But some resolute defence from Hook saw them lose only 4 wickets to finish on 266.

The attitude and spirit of all the players was tremendous and a joy to see!

Hook 98-5 Saundersfoot 73-8

Stackpole Under 15sHook ultimately secured a comfortable victory over a very spirited Saundersfoot team by 25 runs. This was another great advert for junior cricket with good all round skills on show from both teams.

Hook batted first and after the early loss of Owen Phelps, Lewis Miller (11) and Lucas Davies (30 retired) added 37 for the second wicket. Davies again batted splendidly to anchor the innings. Seth Willington (13) and Davies added another 30 before Niall Griffiths (8) added late impetus.

A total of 98 looked a competitive score. For Saundersfoot Aryan (2 for 7) led the bowling with support from Archie (1 for 9) and a wicket apiece for Rhys and Evan. The ground fielding was very good throughout the team.

In reply Aryan (14) and Archie (20) got off to a fast start with some superb boundary shots. A sharp catch behind the wicket from Seth Willington off the excellent bowling of Dillon James (1 for 8) broke this key partnership.

Despite the efforts of Rhys (8) and Bradley (12 not out) Saundersfoot fell behind the rate. Niall Griffiths (2 for 2) then took two key wickets before the Phelps brothers effectively sealed victory, Rhys (1 for 4) outshone by older brother Owen (3 for 1) including a treble wicket maiden. Bailey Goodridge (1 for 2) rounded off the match with a wicket in the last over.
