Hundleton 65 all out beat Hook 57 for 8 by 8 runs

Hundleton won through to the county under 13 final after an 8 run victory over a young Hook team. It was a deserved victory in a low scoring match and congratulations go to Hundleton as well as the very best of luck for the final next week.

Hundleton batted first and were indebted to Archie Hillier-Wood (30 not out) who put together an excellent score, holding the innings together for his team. Wickets fell regularly and only George Davies (8) was able to build a partnership of note with Archie.

Lewis Miller (1 for 12) made the early breakthrough before Owen Phelps (3 for 13) and Dillon James (2 for 6) bowled their spin to good effect.

The batsmen continued to run well between the wickets despite a lack of boundaries. Liam Miller (1 for 14), Elin Miller (2 for 10) and Seth Willington with an excellent run out rounded off the innings for 65.

A modest total maybe but the Hundleton players put in a terrific performance in the field. Some quite excellent catches were taken, no better than young Tom Callan who pouched a steepler on the boundary.

George Davies (1 for 13), Ben Callan (1 for 5) and Archie Hillier-Wood (2 for 12) all bowled really well to take regular wickets and restrict the scoring.

But it was Zak Jones who proved the hero on the night with tremendous figures of 4 - 3 - 5 - 3 despite playing little cricket this season.

Hook finished 8 runs short despite a top score of 8 not out for young Rhys Phelps who ended the game batting with his under 9 teammate Oscar Willington (4 not out).

An excellent contest with worthy winners. Congratulations to Hundleton.
