Pembroke Amateur Boxing Club celebrated another successful year at the Welsh Schools' Championships with a hat trick of champions and a runner up at recent venues in Swansea and Cardiff.
James Probert maintained his run of good form with a clear-cut points win over Rhys James (North Wales) which he followed with an even more emphatic victory in the final as he stopped Tony Richards.
Ryan Christopher received a bye into the final after his semi-final opponent withdrew but he completed a club double by gaining a very clear points decision over Wyn Davies from North Wales in his final.
James and Ryan will now move on to the British Championships in England during April at a venue to be arranged. Joining them will be Lacey Sharp, who had a walk over in both semi final and final as her reputation deters most opponents, and who is a Welsh Champion as a result.
Antonio misses out but gains consolation
Antonio Price was also impressive up until his final bout and could consider himself a little unlucky to lose on a split decision to Chris Edwards from the Rhondda Valley.
But there was consolation for Antonio as he learned he was selected with James Probert to represent the Western Division against the Southern Division as proof of their growing reputation in Welsh Boxing.
There has also been a further honour bestowed on James because after five training sessions with the Welsh squad in Cardiff he has been chosen to represent Wales against Yorkshire in Sheffield on March 8th.
Small wonder then that coaches Andy Edmondson and Nathan Probert are delighted that the reputation of Pembroke Amateur Boxing Club continues to be enhanced with youngsters of the ability of this talented quartet carrying their flag to all corners of Wales and much further afield!
