Good weekend for Fishguard and Goodwick hockey

League 2

Fishguard & Goodwick 3 - Gwent Development 2

The senior men hosted a visiting the Gwent Development team in an entertaining game between two young sides which looked to play an expansive game and it gave a first half with chances at both ends.

It was Fishguard who took the early advantage with a first half double from Isaac Davies, his second in consecutive games, and Morgan Boston-Williams, scoring his first for the club.

Gwent pulled a goal back early in the second half, but Fishguard restored the gap when debutant Lloyd James converted brilliantly after excellent work from Stephen Kendrick on the right.

Gwent pulled a goal back late on, but Fishguard saw the game out for a deserved win.

Fishguard and Goodwick Hockey Club - Women

Fishguard & Goodwick Ladies 1 Llanybydder 1

The Fishguard girls played an exceptional game which began with a little struggle as Llanybydder took control of the game making Fishguard & Goodwick work hard for possession.

But Fishguard & Goodwick played well against the league leaders and the scoresheet was still blank at the half-way stage.

Into the second half Llanybydder came storming out and were strong on the attack but Fishguard not only defended well but Carys James secured a goal to take them into the lead.

Llanybydder worked hard, however, and with only 10 minutes left of the game secured a lovely goal into the top right hand corner of the net.

Massive thank you to Jason and Rhys for umpiring the game and to Nat Walsh for making an appearance back into the squad.
