Daisy and Sam are still powering forward!

Daisy and Sam celebrateDaisy and Sam Coleman continue to enjoy a terrific season in the hurly-burly world of power-boat racing after the latest round of races in The Solent.

Testing conditions faced

Although the wave heights were nowhere near as big as Scarborough the infrequency and random wave patterns meant they were bound to face testing conditions.

And for a rookie team like theirs, only being around the water since coming into the sport in 2012, the sea states here are far more difficult to read and predict.

“But with a 21 point lead in the Championship we knew we had to finish all four races over the weekend to protect our lead,” Daisy told us, “so decided to play it safe on the Saturday, securing a steady start with fifth and then third places.

Aiming high paid off

“The conditions worsened on the Sunday but with two races running back to back we decided to go for it. We won the first race then achieved another third spot, despite losing engine trim, which proves critical to ensure the boat attacks each wave at the correct angle.

“This led to us securing second place on the podium behind the impressive 'Team Experience Kissimmee' whose crew have been racing boats successfully for 25 years and it certainly showed this weekend.

“It was a huge compliment for us with it being our team's debut season and a steep learning curve but we go into our home race in Cardiff Bay over 28/29th August still leading the Championship by 25 points.”
