Mark has over thirty years’ experience in the travel industry with his award winning businesses, Ocky White Travel and Milford Haven Travel sending thousands of West Walians all over the world. Mark is now putting his wealth of travel-industry experience coupled with his passion for sports, into this exciting new brand, ‘Top Sports Events.’

As Mark told us:
“I’ve seen a massive increase in demand for visits to sporting events since the end of the pandemic, with Formula One as a prime example. We can offer packages to every Grand P on the calendar, starting with standard packages right up to the full VIP Experience. “Another example was the surge in demand after Wales qualified for the World Cup in Qatar and we were able to send dozens of passionate fans to support their country and create precious memories that will last a lifetime.

In football, our Premier League packages are always incredibly popular, and for that special treat we have access to hospitality deals with all major clubs. We have also seen demand soar for our overseas football breaks and I’m already looking forward to my special trip in April to watch Paris San German, and hopefully see Messi, Neymar and M’bappe play together!”

OLD FAVOURITES LIKE LIONS’ TOURS - BUT ALSO ANYTHING ELSE IN THE SPORTING CALENDAR

“In rugby, there is always great interest in Six Nations’ trips, and we are also seeing enquiries starting to come in for the next Lions’ Tour as well as the Hong Kong and Dubai 7’s, which provide fantastic entertainment.

Our sporting net has really spread and it’s fair to say there isn’t a major worldwide sporting event that we can’t provide the opportunity for fans to attend. We do of course only work with the very best, and most trusted suppliers, so all our packages are fully financially protected and secure.”

A SPORTSMAN IN HIS OWN RIGHT

There is no doubt that it helps because Mark has long been very much immersed in local sport, playing as a cricketer and footballer with Haverfordwest Cricket Club for over thirty years!

He started out as a junior player and was still involved as a top order batsman and occasional bowler up to a few years ago, with a full set of winners and runners-up medals in the Harrison-Allen Bowl, DR Morris, Alec Colley and Ken Morris Cups, all carrying great memories.

Of course the Harrison–Allen Bowl finals feature strongly as he played on the winning side against Carew, and lost to Kilgetty - and is proud of his unbeaten league century and a five wicket haul in the league as proof he could also bowl a bit!

In football Mark set out with Haverfordwest County, playing on the Old Bridge Meadow in the Pembrokeshire League before the Cricket Club entered the league in the early eighties. Mark was fortunate to play with some wonderful characters on The Racecourse, like Steve James, Ronnie Morse, Ian “Chipo” Jenkins and Alan Cunningham who all sadly are no longer with us.

As well as football, Mark also played rugby in school, is a keen and competent skier and has completed and thoroughly enjoyed three Cardiff Half Marathons!

MARK HAS VIVID SPORTING MEMORIES OF HIS OWN

Ask Mark about his own highlights in watching top sport and he would list two FA Cup finals with his beloved Everton (our Gordon Thomas says someone has to support them!) including the Wembley win over Watford in 1984 - and a truly memorable, dramatic Cup Winners Cup semi-final at Goodison Park against Bayern Munich a season later where Everton came from a goal down at half time to win 3-1, before winning the Final against Rapid Vienna in Rotterdam!

When Barbadian cricketer Henderson Springer was club professional at Haverfordwest, he and Mark became great friends and it was another sporting highlight to join friends Martin “Baggins” Hughes and the late Alan Cunningham on a trip to Barbados to watch a West Indies’ side take on Australia at the Kensington Oval. Hendy was then in charge of the dressing rooms at the Oval, and it was such an amazing experience to be invited in to the Aussie dressing room after close of play and just sit down with an ice cold Banks beer,
soaking up the atmosphere!

AND FINALLY…..
