Ogi and Milford Youth Matters charity game raises awareness for Local Community Group

The magnificent Ogi Cup



 

Milford, 12th April 2023 - The Ogi vs Milford Youth Matters Charity Football Match took place yesterday in challenging weather conditions at the Milford United Football Ground.

Despite the high winds and heavy rain, both teams put in a valiant effort to raise awareness for a worthy cause and more importantly to celebrate the MYM achievements throughout the year.

The Ogi team got off to a flying start, racing into a 3-0 lead within the first half hour of the match. However, the Milford Youth Matters team didn't give up and managed to score a penalty just before halftime to make it 3-1.

The second half was well played by the youngsters from Milford Youth Matters, who showed great determination and spirit to equalize with the last kick of the game, taking the match to a nerve-wracking penalty shootout.

In the end, Milford Youth Matters emerged victorious, winning the shootout 3-1, much to the delight of the home crowd. However, both teams deserve credit for their outstanding performance and sportsmanship, in what was a thrilling and closely contested match.
 

The event was a huge success for the local community.

Speaking after the match, Ogi team manager Louise Clement said, "We're disappointed to have lost, but it was a great game for a fantastic charity. It's heartening to seeso many people coming together to support the community and we're proud to have played our part."

Milford Youth Matters organiser, Dayle Gibby added, "It was a tough game, but we never gave up, and we're thrilled to have come away with the win. We want to thank everyone who came out to support us in such awful weather.

“The Ogi and Milford Youth Matters Charity Football Match was a true testament to the power of sport and community, bringing people together for a good cause. We look forward to seeing similar events in the future.”
