Neyland continue to fly Welsh Flag with pride by Bill Carne

Neyland CC Having done so well in the National Village Cup competition Neyland are on the road again this Sunday as they play in the last 16 away to Clipstone and Bilsthorpe Cricket Club, which plays in the Bassetlaw Cricket League and is north of Mansfield in Nottinhamshire.

The team are heading off after the Llechryd game on Saturday evening and staying the night at Day’s Hotel in Strensham Services, to lessen the amount of travelling on Sunday morning because there is at least a five-hour each-way journey and a mileage total round trip of 485 miles!

Great support received

Their progress in this prestigious competition has aroused a great deal of interest and the town and business people, have shown great support with sponsorship to help with the high cost of such long-distance travel, for which the club is very grateful.

Cliff James at O C Davies Roundabout Garage, Neyland, plus Colin Picton and Mike Beveridge, have helped cover the team’s travelling costs and former club president Owain Picton and his wife Susan have paid for their share of the umpiring cost for Sunday.

There was also support from Neyland Town Council and the Mayor, Councillor Simon Hancock, in the last round and cricket lovers across the county will wish all the best to Sean Hannon and his team as they continue to fly the Pembrokeshire Flag with pride across Wales and England!
