Gregg Miller

Gregg Miller - Age 37 - Oil Accountant

Having taken over the reins of Captaincy this season from elder brother Andrew Gregg has taken to the additional responsibility like a duck to water. Despite his advancing years and ever more receding hairline Gregg remains a brilliant fielder although it has to be said there have been one or two rare blemishes in recent weeks (Some say that the fact that Ashley Sutton has a better arm has dealt a blow to his self-esteem). By way of relaxation Gregg is an enthusiastic walker and can regularly be found prowling the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path on the look- out for exotic birds.
Paul Murray

Paul Murray - Age 25 - Accountant

“Minty” remains one of the most talented and at times destructive batsmen in Pembrokeshire and his half-centuries in the DR Morris Cup quarter and semi-finals were crucial in guiding his side to victory. Also contributed 33 in the Bowl semi-final and in addition he will be a more than adequate substitute wicket keeper in the unlikely event that Sean Hannon is called upon to bowl, particularly as the joys of fatherhood have seen him trim down to what his teammates tell us is a lightweight 17 stone.
Ashley Sutton

Ashley Sutton - Age 21 - Student

Ashley hails from a well known Neyland sporting family and has developed into a talented all-round sportsman who has played rugby to a high standard.. Firmly embedded at number three in the order he is both a superb fielder and useful bowler.  Off the field he is one of the quiet members of the team but his après game social skills are developing in that he can now finish his drink in fewer than ten goes. Ashley will be looking to show his all-round skills in the final and will certainly be one to watch out for.
Andrew Miller

Andrew Miller - Age 39 - Commercial Manager

Having surrendered the captaincy after 12 successful seasons at the helm Andrew remains a key component of the side, indeed without the pressures of captaincy he has been able to concentrate on his own game which has been reflected in a series of consistent contributions with both bat and ball. Man of the Match in a losing cause in last season’s final Andrew will doubtless play an important role in determining the outcome of this year’s big day. Off the field he continues to develop his property portfolio in Hook and Roch particularly as absentee landlord of the Victoria Inn in Roch.
Nick Koomen

Nicholas Koomen - Age 22 - Retail Worker

He is he philosopher and Renaissance man in the Neyland side. The enigmatic Nick is a talented sporting all rounder who in addition to his cricketing skills regularly turns out for Neyland AFC.  His ‘Man of the Match’ performance with both bat and ball in the 2011 Harrison- Allen Bowl final is a constant reminder that he is not one to be phased by the big occasion and he has continued to perform at a similarly high level this season. His bowling has improved to such an extent that Nick’s contribution with the ball is likely to be even more important this afternoon.
Nathan Banner

Nathan Banner - Age 21 - Retail Worker

Enjoying his first season with the Club since joining from Herbrandston, and following granddad Glyn and father Nigel as a good cricketer.  Nathan has proved to be a great addition to the club, having already made several match-winning contributions with both bat and ball. He is also a good footballer as a central defender and  is in superb condition after serious training but unfortunately an ankle injury has limited recent participation - but in the semi-final he showed what he can do by claiming three early wickets and taking a superb catch. Definitely one to watch in the final.
Patrick Bellerby

Patrick Bellerby - Age 23 - Retail Worker

Patrick enjoyed a successful winter of senior rugby which saw him capture the ‘Players’ Player of the Year’ award and he has translated that success with the oval ball to the cricket field this summer with a number of significant contributions. Patrick has a somewhat laissez-faire approach to life and despite residing only some 30 yards from the Athletic Club ground can nevertheless be relied upon to be the last to arrive at the Club on a Saturday, particularly in the winter. This approach also saw him run out of petrol on his way to a Jubilee Cup Final held in Neyland!
Patrick Hannon

Patrick Hannon - Age 25 - Retail Manager

Another of the walking wounded, having sustained a groin strain in the DR Morris semi-final against Whitland. Patrick has enjoyed another consistent season with the ball and this season has developed his batting to such an extent that he can be rightly regarded as a fully fledged all-rounder and now says he can out-bat twin brother Sean. Luckily he has not let this success go to his head as he is just as self-confident as he was previously, despite his 1 for 48 haul in the semi-final.
Sean Hannon

Sean Hannon - Age 25 - Roofing Designer

Without doubt one of the premier wicket keepers in the county, Sean is a versatile and more than useful batsman who can open the batting if required but is more likely to occupy a position in the lower middle order where his speed between the wickets, particularly in tandem with twin brother Patrick, can be a vital asset in close run games. Having recently announced his engagement to long standing partner Kirsty, Sean’s availability for the final became assured, but can’t be guaranteed in future seasons!
Gary Lloyd

Gary Lloyd - Aged 48 - Shipwright

The veteran of the side, Gary retains all the enthusiasm of someone half his age and will likely play a key role this afternoon with his mix of off breaks, googlies, flippers etc. In many ways a throwback to the good old days, Gary does not subscribe to pre-match calisthenics, preferring a quite sit down watching the horses on telly, and a rather more relaxed approach which usually involves liquid refreshment! It has to be said, however, that his ability to read opposition batsmen is second to none.
Paul Miller

Paul Miller - Age 25 - Management Consultant

The youngest and least folically challenged of the Miller brothers, Paul divides his time these days between County Hall and his place of employment in the Home Counties. He is an enthusiastic cricketer who is a good fielder and when the occasion demands a hard-hitting batsman. Paul has ambitions to be an MP but remains, however, the originator and main practitioner of the post match drinking games although he has still to master the art of persuading brother Gregg to fully comply with his forfeits.
Scott Jones

Scott Jones - Age 15 - Student

The youngest of three brothers who have all represented Neyland with distinction, Scott is a talented batsman and spin bowler who has regularly represented Wales at various age levels in recent seasons. In addition to his cricketing prowess he also excels at both rugby and association football and is currently on the junior books of Swansea AFC. Was called into action as a bowler in the DR Morris semi-final and is one to watch for the future. The big question remains: will he have a special haircut for the final?
Anton John

Anton John - Age 26

Since joining the club from Pembroke in 2012 Anton’s whole hearted performances have seen him quickly establish himself as a popular member of the 1st team squad. He enjoyed a highly promising start to the season however his presence in recent weeks has been limited due to injury and his participation today depends on whether he is fit enough.
John Laugharne

John Laugharne - Scorer - Pensioner!

John Laugharne has been involved with Neyland cricket for over 50 years and was a middle order batsman who has appeared in Harrison-Allen Bowl Finals as a player. Now the reliable scorer at Neyland and one of the stalwart men on the committee, including taking on most of the offices of the club at some time or another. Very much part of the team ethos on the day, no-one will be more delighted than ‘Laugharnie’ if Neyland win.
