Callum powers Neyland B to tight victory

Game One - Pembroke Dock B (118 for 2) lost to Neyland B (121 for 5)

Callum Power - match-winning 46 against Pem Dock BLuke Murray - 46 for The Dock A against Neyland BBoth teams managed to reach three-figure scores in an entertaining tussle, with The Dock B batting first and totaling 118 for 2 from their allotted ten overs before Neyland B reached their target with opener Callum Power (47 not out) taking them there with just two balls remaining.

Luke Murray (46 not out) and Peter Kingdom (40 not out) were the principal run-getters for The Dock B as Nick Daley (15) and Jamie White (15 not out) gave good support in reaching 67 at the half-way stage as John Tennick claimed (1 for 17) and George Evans (1 for 25), with Kieron Arran also bowling a tight two-over spell.

Ashley Watkins (run out 13) started well with Power and there were 10 apiece from George Evans, who gave a return catch to Kingdom, and Tennick (bowled by Adam Phillips).

But Steve Murray showed his batting skills with 25 before he was caught and bowled by Daley and although Arran departed for a duck it was Power who showed what an outstanding opener he has become in this area of cricket with his shrewd running between the wickets and ability to punish anything loose.

Neyland A ease home against determined B team

Game Two: Neyland B (80 for 5) lost to Neyland A (81 for 2)

Patrick Hannon - batted and bowled well for Neyland A against his B teamGeorge Evans - top scored for Neyland B against his A teamNeyland B also made a good start against their A team after batting first as Power scored 23 before being well caught by Murray off the pace of Jack John - but George Evans (29 not out) and Tennick (run out 22) helped build their total to what seemed a challenging score at one stage.

But both were unable to really accelerate against really accurate bowling by Sean Hannon, Brad McDermott-Jenkins and Patrick Hannon - and as they searched for runs they lost Steve Murray (0) and Ashley Watkins (0) as the A team really turned the screw with Jack John claiming 2 for 10 and Paul Murray, casting off his wicket-keeping gloves, with 1 for 21 as the B team score contained 13 threes,  a four and three sixes, but with a massive 27 ‘dot balls’.

The A team switched their batting order but John (1) was caught by Steve Murray off Watkins and Paul Murray (15) was pouched by Arran off George Evans - causing a few tremors in the senior camp.

Patrick Bellerby (25) and Patrick Hannon (25) restored the balance, however, and with skipper Sean Hannon ending on 6 not out they were home and dry in only six overs, with very few non-scoring deliveries as their tally contained 10 threes, two fours and three sixes.

Neyland A win with ease against depleted Dock B

Game Three - Pembroke Dock B (85 for 5) lost to Neyland A (90 for 0)

Sean Hannon - led Neyland A by examplePeter Kingdom - in top batting form for Pem Dock BNeyland A played really well to limit Pembroke Dock B to 85 for 5, despite a cracking innings of 43 from in-form batsman Peter Kingdom, and then Sean Hannon’s side scored 90 without loss as they finished in style with a six.

Brad McDermott-Jenkins grabbed 2 for 17 as reward for his accuracy and Bellerby finally shifted Kingdom in his 1 for 10 single over - and only Luke Murray (run out 23) also managed to stay long as 11 extras boosted their total to 85 all out as they had to bat with only five players.

Being a fielder short was also a trouble for The Dock B as twins Sean and Patrick Hannon retired with identical scores of 27 and then Paul Murray (17 not out) and McDermott-Jenkins (12 not out) scored 21 runs in the seventh over to give Neyland A another two wins from as many matches.
