Lydia wins silver and Esme reaches the final in superb double delight for Harriers

Two young Pembrokeshire Harriers, Lydia Thomas and Esme Greer, recently travelled up to Sheffield to take part in the UK age group Indoor Championships and flew the Pembrokeshire Flag with real distinction in the 60 metre hurdles.
 
There were almost 50 entrants in their event but after a tense and long battle throughout Sunday afternoon, both girls made it through the heats and semi finals to achieve a first for PembrokLydia wins silver and Esme reaches the final in superb double delight for Harrierseshire Harriers - two athletes in a UK track and field final.
 

Fantastic achievement

 
It was a fantastic achievement by the girls and then to round off a great day at the Championships, Lydia Thomas stormed through in the final to win the silver medal. Her time was the same as the winners so she just missed out on the gold by a hair's breadth. Lydia is now ranked No 2 and Esme No 9 in the UK, a wonderful achievement!
 
They would both like to thank their families for transporting them to the event and giving great support throughout the day and to round off a memorable championships, both girls and coaches had the chance to meet up with Jess Ennis's coach, Tony Minichiello.
 
He had a few kind words to say to them and a useful tip...."Run as fast as you can". Coaching made simple from a top Olympic coach!
