Local chess news - junior tournament held at Milford Haven

Pembrokeshire Junior Chess Club v White Knights, Llanelli Junior Chess Club.

Pictured are Ethan and  Matteo who played three great games. Da Iawn all.Another fantastic evening of Junior chess was recently  held at Kensington Court, Milford Haven, when both clubs junior sections played three times in half hour games, with a big thank you to Jason Garcia and all the parents for travelling down to play, and to all the players from both sides.

There were 16 children, including 3 girls, which is great to see. The teams were evenly matched and there was some excellent competitive play by all. The majority of the games were decided in the latter/end game stage and in all honesty, most could have gone either way. It was great to see everyone enjoying themselves, making new friends  and learning from their experiences.

Big shout out to our Pembrokeshire parents who provided tea, coffee, squash and various refreshments to keep the energy levels high at the same time as the games were being played.

Young Henry Burton played Jason and benefitted from the coaching after the game. Henry entered the West Wales Open over the weekend, his first Open, and came away with an impressive 2
5/5 points haul.

As a club we are looking forward to travelling to Llanelli for the return leg early in the New Year.
I can hear you all asking who won? It was the players of both  junior teams!
