Goals by Adam Roscow and substitute John Littlemore earned Cardiff Met University a deserved victory against Haverfordwest County at the Conygar Bridge Meadow Stadium.
The Students after this victory have moved top of the table on goal-difference from second place Penybont, as the Bluebirds slipped from top to third, two points behind the leaders, but they have a game in hand.
Sweet win
Cardiff Met University beat the Bluebirds by 2-0 earlier in the season and the team from the capital came away with a sweet win over their title rivals.
Wayne Jones’ Haverfordwest County had the better of the first half with striker Jordan Follows squandering their best chance of scoring following a one-on-one with Met keeper Will Fuller.
The Bluebirds played well despite having right back Ricky Watts out due to a double break to his wrist and the suspended Luke Borelli and Chris O’Sullivan.
Roscow scores
The visitors broke the deadlock in the 33
rd minute as striker Roscow headed home at the far post completely unmarked.
Haverfordwest County pushed hard for an equaliser, but resilient defending by Met kept the home side at bay. Nicky Palmer’s close range shot was deflected over the bar by defender Joel Letori.
Declan Carroll replaced Owen Thomas in midfield and he brought more urgency to the team, but the visitors were happy to keep their shape and hit the Bluebirds on the break.
Substitute Littlemore struck Craig Morris’ left-hand post following a one-on-one, but shortly made amends as he found the bottom corner in the 85
th minute to put the Met out of sight, this earned the visitors three precious points as the Bluebirds should have no complaints with the final outcome at the final whistle.
