The Pembrokeshire League History
Introduction, by the compiler, Mr Micky Phillips
The information has been compiled from league records and from numerous visits to the library and archives office. As a result although I am happy that 99.9% of the league results are accurate there has been occasions where I have had to estimate results based on league tables and the goals included in the for and against columns.
The league tables have been reconciled back to the official league table published in the annual handbooks, though again this has thrown out some anomalies. Although the total points gained by each club agrees, the goals for and against do not always tally. The differences however are minimal.
Goal scorers have been compiled from press reports published by the league secretaries and although impossible to identify all goal scorers, I hope the articles reflect some of the major players at the time.
Cup results have been compiled entirely from press reports and you will see some results indicated by a “W” (win) as I have been unable to locate the score. This does include some cup finals and if anyone could provide me with more information I would be most grateful.
If anyone has any additional information they would like to share with me I would be delighted to hear from you.
Finally I would like to thank the Pembrokeshire Association Football League for making their records available to me.
Micky Phillips
