At last there was league and cup action on Saturday.

Starting in the Manderwood Pembrokeshire Football League First Division there were five games that were played as the bad weather thankfully held up.

Goodwick United won 5-1 against bottom of the table Carew at Phoenix Park. The visitors took the lead through an own goal, but the Phoenix Lads hit back hard with a brace apiece for Jonny Horgan and Kieran O’ Brien and cracking strike from Adam Raymond to secure the points that moved them to the top of the table.League and cup football finally beats the terrible weather that has struck the county

Narberth narrowly beat Milford United 3-2 at Jesse Road. Dylan Blain, Dorian Davies and Jordan Williams found the back of the net for the Bluebirds, in reply, Ben Aldred and Taku Padiwa netted for the Robins.

Johnston drew 3-3 against Herbrandston; this clash was switched from Glebelends to Hillcroft. Adam Hawkins, Joe John and Ryan Doyle hit the target for the Tigers, while Marc Gelona, Jason Clarke and Shane Walsh bagged the visitors’ goals to secure a point.

Pennar Robins won 5-3 against St Clears in a high-scoring clash at Bush Camp. Richard Hughes (2), Phil Thompson, Adam Cole and Patrick McDonagh scored for the rampant Robins, and a double strike from Owain Evans and Sean Seymour Davies goal was not enough on the day for the Saints.

Tenby secured a comfortable 3-0 victory against Angle at the Clicketts. Finding the back of the net for the Seasiders were Jordan Richards and brothers Sam and Jack Christopher to secure three important points.

Three of our teams from Pembrokeshire were finally involved in their West Wales Intermediate Cup third Round ties.

Hakin United gained a convincing 7-4 victory against Gorseinon Athletic at the Obs. Ashley Bevan (3), Mark Jones, Nicky Woodrow, Adam Davies and Scott Reid scored to the delighted Vikings, and their reward is an away tie next month at Goodwick United.

Merlins Bridge easily brushed aside Pontarddulais Town 6-1 at the Racecourse. Terry McCombe grabbed a hat-trick alongside goals from team-mates Matthew D’Ivry, James Skudder and Steven McNabney.

Neyland drew 4-4 after full and extra time at Maltsters Sports, and then cruelly bowed out of the competition, losing 4-2 on penalties. Justin Harding and Wayne Parry scored a brace each for the unlucky Nomads.
