Hook overwhelm struggling Llanrhian

Llanrhian (43 all out) lost to Hook (45 for 1) by 5 wickets

Sam Rossiter - another title for her teamTia Rees - Another good evening for HookBoth Llanrhian and Hook entered this fascinating fixture with a 100% record from six starts and with the silverware as the likely outcome for the winners.

Llanrhian had looked very impressive throughout their matches but Hook had the experience gained from being champions for the previous three seasons - and they certainly put it to good effect as they won with ease.

Llanrhian went on the attack from the outset and moved smoothly to 17 but then lost Amanda John and the rot set in - with Carrie Slack soon following, caught and bowled by Sam Rossiter
for her first time being out this season.

Wickets then fell at regular intervals as Hook fielded superbly in support of their bowlers so that ‘Extras’ turned out as top Llanrhian scorer with nine runs!

Tia Rees grabbed two wickets, with Maisy Davies, Jemma Phillips and Sam the other Hook wicket takers.

Amanda John gave Llanrhian a little hope as she removed Jemma Phillips but Hook had the ultra-reliable Kate Farr remaining not out again and skipper Rossiter stroked 20 runs in 10 balls so that although Amanda, Carries and Katy bowled quite well there was no stopping Hook as they reached their target in only 4.3 overs.

It gave Hook the title, although they have to play Llangwm next Monday, as Llanrhian then suffered a shock set-back against St Ishmaels - and they will deservedly receive the silverware from Pembroke County Club hon treasurer Andrew Scott-Davies afterwards.

Llanrhian Batting: Amanda John 8, Extras 9
Hook Bowling: Maisy Davies 1-9, Tia Rees 2-9, Sam Rossiter 1-6, Jemma Phillips 1-7
Hook Batting: Kate Farr 18*, Sam Rossiter 20*
Llanrhian Bowling: Amanda John 1-4, Carrie Slark 0-8, Katy Jenkins 0-11

Burton ‘Big Guns’ fire well

Burton (87 for 2) beat Llangwm (51 for 3)

Becca Barton - again, a key player for BurtonRhiannon Morgan -batted really well for BurtonBurton batted really well against Llangwm and then forced opposition openers Pam Asson and Ruby Arnold to fall well below the asking rate.

Becca Barton belted five threes and six before retiring, with Rhiannon Morgan going even faster as she struck four threes, two fours and a six before taking a rest - and Olivia James chipped in with double figures before she was run out.

Llangwm also benefitted from 16 extras as Pam and Ruby struggled and in the final analysis both were run out seeking in vain to raise the tempo.

For Burton, Becca Barton conceded only five runs in two overs, with Rhiannon, Olivia and Louisa Adams also keeping things tight as Burton were comfortable winners.

Burton Batting: Becca Barton 29*, Olivia James 13, Rhiannon Morgan 26*
Llangwm Bowling: Lilly Thomas 1-19, Daisy Brick 0-14
Llangwm Batting: Pam Asson 21, Ruby Arnold 14, Extras 16
Burton Bowling: Becca Barton 0-5, Louisa Adams 0-11, Olivia James 0-13

Delighted Tish gain their first success…

Burton (99 for 0) lost to St Ishmaels (100 for 3) by 3 wickets

Rachael McGuire - a model of consistency with bat and ball for Tish Linzi Picton - led Tish by exampleSt Ishmaels showed how much they have improved of late as they successfully chased down a challenging target set by the experienced Burton batters - and were able to celebrate a first win this campaign as their reward.

Burton’s powerful batters in Rhiannon Morgan and Steff Campbell both retired and the sustained attack came from Becca Barton and Olivia James before Burton ended the innings without losing a wicket.

But skipper Picton showed her battling qualities as she led the response with  top score and found willing allies in Lily McGuire and Tai Tallett, who were both together as 11 extras helped take Tish passed the magic three-figure mark - and victory!

Burton Batting: Rhiannon Morgan 30*, Steff Campbell 26*, Becca Barton 24*, Olivia James 17*
St Ishmaels Bowling: Lily McGuire 0-15, Tai Tallett 0-20, Rachel McGuire 0-26
St Ishmaels Batting: Linzi Picton 30*, Lily McGuire 28, Tai Tallett 18*
Burton Bowling: Rachel Morgan 0-17, Louisa Adams 1-30, Olivia James 0-22

. . . And Tish win again as Llanrhian stumble

Llanrhian (72 for 1) lost to St Ishmaels (73 for 4) by 2 wickets

Carrie Slack - another good knock for LlanrhianCath Orton - vital runs again for TishAfter four successive defeats, St Ishmaels’ ability to bounce back with great wins over two of the top four teams in the league must have filled skipper Linzi Picton and coach Johnnie Lewis with pride.

Against Llanrhian they faced a very strong and experienced side but Tish did well to limit the free-scoring Carrie Slack, Amanda John and Katy Jenkins as they bounced back from their earlier disappointment.

But Tish bowlers Lola Phillips, Rachael & Lily McGuire all managed to restrict the run rate to ensure they had a total to chase that was within their range - and although they lost Lily and skipper Picton early, it was Rachael who put her experience to good effect alongside Lola P and Cath Orton, back to form with a vital, classy innings, that saw Tish home with five balls still in hand.

Llanrhian Batting:  Carrie Slack 27*, Amanda John 19, Katy Jenkins 13*, Abbey Ladd 13*
St Ishmaels Bowling:  Lily McGuire 15, Rachel McGuire 0-9, Lola Phillips 0-20
St Ishmaels Batting: Rachel McGuire 19, Cath Orton 20*, Lola Phillips 13*
Llanrhian Bowling: Katy Jenkins 1-17, Amanda John 1-12, Abbey Ladd 0-13, Gillian Robinson  1-6
