Haverfordwest - Enjoyed their first win of the season

Haverfordwest (66 for 4) beat Pembroke Dock (56 for 4) by 10 runs

Haverfordwest Ladies were able to celebrate their first win of the season as they beat their Pembroke Dock counterparts in a match that was tight from start to finish as Lowis Hughes led the batting and was supported by Cerys Pullin and the extras column – and then mum Cerys and daughter Millie bowled well to give them the verdict.

The mother and daughter duo of Abbey and Poppy Price played key roles for The Dock as  Katie Griffiths and Nancy Bhari  bagged a wicket each before mum Abbey batted well until she was run out and Poppy batted well alongside her to finish undefeated.

But The Dock ran out of overs to give Haverfordwest a welcome win as reward for the young team reward for their genuine enthusiasm and willingness to learn.

Haverfordwest Batting: Lowis Hughes 31* Cerys Pullin 14, Extras 12
Pembroke Dock Bowling: Poppy Price 1-14, Katie Griffiths 1-18, Nancy Bhari 1-17
Pembroke Dock Batting: Abbey Price 15, Poppy Price 19*
Haverfordwest Bowling: Summer Smith 0-6, Cerys Pullin 1-19, Millie Pullin 0-3

Poppy and Abbey Price - played well for The Dock

Hook (99 for 0) beat Haverfordwest (16 all out) by 83 runs

Tia Rees - more runs and wickets for HookJemma Phillips - reached double figures for HookHaverfordwest were then brought down to earth with a bang as they then faced a Hook team still undefeated and looking to retain the title – so playing flat out as they reached a big score and then showed no mercy as they dismissed their opponents in double-quick time! New Haverfordwest skipper Ehlana

Hook openers Kate Farr and Jemma Phillips, making a welcome return to action, got Hook off to a flying start before both retired – but the onslaught continued via Sam Rossiter and Tia Rees, with the addition of 11 extras taking them a single run short of three figures.

Then only skipper Ehlana got anywhere close to double figures as Hook bowled and fielded really well, with skipper Rossiter and Tia leading the bowling as mum Paula stepped in at short notice after an illness to a player to help out and certainly didn’t let the side down. Jemma Phillips and Maisy Davies also bowled well and one could only feel sorry for Haverfordwest after the elation of their previous success!

Hook Batting: Kate Farr 26*, Jemma Phillips 25*; Sam Rossiter 22*, Tia Rees 15*, Extras 11
Pembroke Dock Bowling: Cerys Pullin 0-8, Lowis Hughes 0-2, Millie Pullin (one maiden)
Pembroke Dock Batting: Ehlana Lister 9
Hook Bowling: Tia Rees 2-5, Sam Rossiter 2-1, Jemma Phillips 1-3, Maisie Davies 0-6

Pembroke Dock Ladies - battling on in adversity

Pembroke Dock (28 all out) lost to Cresselly (20 for 2) by 4 wickets

Phoenix Phillips - bowled superbly for CressellyCresselly cruised to a runaway win over Pembroke Dock, who could only muster easily their lowest score of the season whereby half of their runs came from extras against a sustained bowling attack put forward by Cresselly, who in theory could still be league champions, is results on the two final evenings went in their favour.

Phoenix Phillips continued her good form as she grabbed half of the wickets and she found great support from Caitlin Lewis (with dad Matthew and big brother Corey looking proudly on!), plus sisters Marie and Sophia Cole.

It says much for The Dock’s battling qualities that they still managed to take two quick wickets from a run out and Martha Bhari, plus bowling cameos from the Price Girls, but the game was soon over as Cresselly eased through.

Pembroke Dock Batting: Extras 9
Cresselly Bowling:  Marie Cole 0-5, Caitlin Lewis 2-4, Phoenix Phillips 3-2, Sophia Cole 0-1
Cresselly Batting: Caitlin Lewis 6
Pembroke Dock Bowling: Martha Bhari 1-12, Poppy Price 0-3, Abbey Price 0-3

Hook (78 for 4) beat Cresselly (56 for 5) by 22 runs

Sam Rossiter - more runs and wickets for HookKate Farr - so reliable with the bat for HookIn a game rightly billed as the top of the evening as front runners Cresselly and Hook, just four points behind, did battle, and Hook maintained their 100% record by beating their old rivals in a match that demonstrated all that is good in Ladies’ Cricket.

Hook batted first and again Kate Farr showed her great reliability after losing Jemma Phillips early, again going close to her retirement score before falling to Sophia Cole - but she had batted really well alongside Sam Rossiter, who did reach her retirement score and found another willing partner in talented teenage all-rounder Tia Rees in building a decent final tally.

Phoenix Phillips again topped the Cresselly bowling charts, along with Sophia and Caitlin, and was also the main Cresselly batter as Lucy Johnson managed double figures as did the extras’ column,

But the were wickets at regular intervals for Tia, Sam and Jemma, with Maisy Davies also bowling really well to concede only four runs in her two overs, the second a maiden, which is rare in this form of cricket,

Hook Batting: Kate Farr 28 Sam Rossiter 28*, Tia Rees 13*
Cresselly Bowling:  Phoenix Phillips 2-14, Sophia Cole 1-12, Caitlin Lewis 0-17
Cresselly Batting: Phoenix Phillips 19, Lucy Johnson 10, Extras 18
Hook Bowling: Maisy Davies 0-4 (one maiden), Tia Rees 1-10, Sam Rossiter 1-16 Jemma Phillips 1-19
