Ladies Cricket - Week 9 - 2nd March 2026
Hook are crowned four-time champs – and Tish finish on an amazing high!
Venue: Neyland Community Hub
Umpires: Johnny Lewis, Ollie Davies, Dillon Lewis
Scorers: Clarissa Lewis, Sam Rossiter, Will Davies

Hook skipper Sam Rossiter deservedly received the Nick Evans’ trophy from Andrew Scott-Davies as undefeated champions of the Ladies’ Indoor Cricket season, despite the efforts of a young Llangwm team which battled hard – and St Ishmaels and Pembroke finished their campaigns on a high note too.
Tish had lost their first four games but after a win double the previous week they not only beat Haverfordwest and Pembroke this week they didn’t conceded a single wicket in the process, to the evident joy of effervescent skipper Linzi Picton.
Pembroke then finished in style as they reached 99 for 0, their highest score of the campaign, and shot out an inexperienced Haverfordwest team in double-quick time!
Game One: Hook (83 for 2) beat Llangwm (70 for 4) by 13 runs

With the title already assured for the fourth time in a row, Hook were in buoyant mood as Kate Farr and Kacey Arran got them off to a flying start against a young and inexperienced Llangwm team, reaching 40 in the fourth over before Kacey fell to a great return catch as Rosie Thomas somehow held on to a ball hit straight back with full power.
Kate retired, as she has done almost all season, to share the ‘Most Runs’ award with Carrie Slack (Llanrhian), as did Sam Rossiter, but Llangwm earned a second wicket, this time by Zoe Brick as Daisy Brick took a fantastic catch at mid-on. Tia Rees also chipped in with quick runs but Llangwm had done well to restrict the champions to a lower score than might have been expected at one time.
But then Hook exerted real pressure in the field as they kept things very tight in support of wicket-taking bowlers Kacey and Sam, with Maisy Davies and Tia giving excellent support so that Llangwm looked as if they might struggle badly once they had lost recent batting star Lilly Thomas – but Natalie White showed terrific skills to stay at the crease and reached an unbeaten 34 by the finish, with her side recovering to miss out by only 14 runs!
Hook Batting: Kate Farr 26*, Kacey Arran 18, Sam Rossiter 25*, Tia Rees 10*
Llangwm Bowling: Daisy Brick 0-8, Zoe Brick 1-22, Rosie Thomas 1-20
Llangwm Batting: Natalie White 34*, Lilly Thomas 11. Extras 10
Hook Bowling: Kacey Arran 1-11, Sam Rossiter 1-21, Maisie Davies 0-14, Tia Rees 0-11
Game Two: Haverfordwest (45 for 4) lost to St Ishmaels (47 for 0) by 6 wickets

St Ishmaels looked a different team after the successes of the previous week, with their mixture of young talent and experienced older players, two of them mothers competing alongside daughters, and they restricted Haverfordwest to a less than challenging score as Lily McGuire grabbed two wickets whilst conceding just a single and including a rare maiden – and mum Rachael followed with only five runs from her two overs, with the bonus of a wicket.
Lola Phillips also claimed a wicket, as did Tai Tallett, with Lola’s mum Linzi also bowling well., so that only Kayleigh Vaughan, with a very good unbeaten knock and Summer Evans ever looked settled for Haverfordwest.
Then Tish opened with two of their teenagers in Lola and Lily, and both batted with a maturity beyond their years, running really well between the wickets, so that, with the assistance of the extras column, they reached their target in only 4.3 overs.
Haverfordwest Batting: Kayleigh Vaughan 24*, Summer Smith 11
St Ishmaels Bowling: Lily McGuire 2-1 (one maiden), Rachael McGuire 1-5, Tai Tallett 1-17, Lola Phillips 1-10
St Ishmaels Batting: Lola Phillips 19*, Lily McGuire 14*, Extras 14
Haverfordwest Bowling: Carys Pullin 0-3, Lowis Hughes 0-7, Summer Smith 0-13, Kayleigh Vaughan 0-16
Game Three: Pembroke (63 for 4) lost to St Ishmaels (65 for 0) by 6 wickets

After languishing near the foot of the league table at the half-way stage, losing all four of their games, St Ishmaels ended up in a creditable fifth spot as this easy win over Pembroke saw them complete a four-match winning run,
To win both matches by the maximum six wickets was another remarkable feat, as they did here after restricting Pembroke to a score that looked achievable but in fact as comfortable as two of their ‘old timers’ showed their daughters they also have plenty to offer!
Pembroke suffered early blows as they lost ace run-getters Jodie Lewis and Kim Barnes very early on and it was left to Ginny Davies to almost single-handedly take them to their final total as she scored over half of their runs to show that whilst she is a renowned match scorer she is also a very good player in her own right!
But then Tish openers Linzi and Rachael batted really well as they struck 16 threes and a four before they retired, leaving Cath Orton and Emma Aldred to knock off the remaining few runs as Pembroke toiled in vain to claim a single wicket!
Pembroke Batting: Ginny Davies 32*
St Ishmaels Bowling: Lily McGuire 0-4, Rachael McGuire 1-28, Linzi Picton 1-22, Lola Phillips O-15
St Ishmaels Batting: Linzi Picton 27*, Rachael McGuire 25*
Pembroke Bowling: Ginny Davies 1-10, Bobbie Neale 0-5
Game Four: Pembroke (99 for 0) beat Haverfordwest (24 all out) by 75 runs
Pembroke Ladies certainly finished their season on a high note as they batted really well to reach just a single short of three figures before bowling and fielding well to put Haverfordwest under so much pressure they were shot out in only 5.3 overs to give Pembroke victory by their biggest margin ever.
Openers Jodie Lewis and Kim Barnes raced to retirement scores as Jodie rapped four boundaries and with Kim taking only 14 deliveries as her innings included two fours. Bobbie Neale and Summer Russant maintained their momentum, with the assistance of 17 extras, so that Haverfordwest knew they had a mountain to climb.
And the pressure certainly told because none of their batters were able to really get started as Carys Pullin came close to double figures bur wickets fell at regular intervals as Summer Russant, Karen Evans and Bobbie Neale claimed a wicket apiece, and Jodie had a maiden in her 0-10 analysis, in an excellent all-round display that earned them their first victory of the season!
Pembroke Batting: Jodie Lewis 27*, Kim Barnes 27*, Bobbie Neale 21*, Extras 17
Haverfordwest Bowling: Kayleigh Vaughan 0-10, Lowis Hughes 0-8
Haverfordwest Batting: Cerys Pullin 8
Pembroke Bowling: Jodie Lewis 0-10, Summer Russant 1-4, Karen Evans 1-9, Bobbie Neale 1-1
