Whitland secure deserved top spot

 
 

Whitland 116 for 6 (19) beat Llangwm 86 for 8 (7) by 30 runs

 
 
Congratulations to Whitland on rounding off a hugely successful season where they had already won the section silverware by adding the icing on the cake with a comfortable victory over Llangwm, who have also had a very good season to come a creditable third..
 
Llangwm won the toss at Spring Hill and asked the home club to bat first but with ace batters Lani Hogben and Kelly Evans leading the way Whitland sped to a challenging score, despite Zoe Brick’s excellent three-wicket haul that had support from Daisy Brick, Lilly Thomas and Jess Ainsworth.
 
But Llangwm struggled against the bowling of Amy Morgan and Ellie Fuller, assisted by Liz Richards and Megan Davie and it was Whitland captain Alys Jones who collected the silverware from trophy donor Nick Evans, and all the team deservedly received their  section winners’ medals from Andrew Scott-Davies, the Hon Treasurer of Pembroke County Cricket Club.

Carew cruise to welcome win

 

Kilgetty 88 for 4 (5) lost to Carew 90 for 2 (19) by 8 wickets

 
 
Congratulations to Carew Ladies on finally winning their final match against their Kilgetty counterparts as reward for their  battling spirit all season, when their inexperienced team has always enjoyed their matches against far more experienced opposition – and will especially savour this success and hopefully inspire them into the 2027 campaign.
 
Chloe Bland and Beth Marsh topped the Kilgetty tally after Carew had asked them to bat first but the accurate bowling of Freya and Gwennie Hicks, Mari Holding and Lily Cole restricted the visitors to a middling score that was within Carew’s reach if they batted well.
 
And Carew batters Nia Sims and Kirstie Lewis came up with the goods as both reached the retirement score before double figures from Samara Powell helped them over the line with an over to spare – and both teams deserve a mention for making this basement battle one played in the right spirit throughout.

Pembroke ease home at Treleet

 
 

Pembroke 121 for 7 (19) beat Cresselly 2nds 105 for 8 (8) by 16 runs

 
 
Pembroke rounded off their campaign with victory at Cresselly against the club’s second string after being asked to bat first and scoring enough runs to make sure they had enough in hand at the finish to take the spoils.
 
Their healthy score owed much to an unbeaten knock by Chloe Jones, supported by steady runs from Summer Russant and Bobbie Neale as Teagan Cartwright and Sophia Cole shared four wickets and also picking up a wicket apiece were Imogen Hicks, Jess Lewis and Chelsea Morris.
 
Jess Lewis completed an excellent all-round performance as she joined Lois Howlett-Dyer in reaching the retirement requirement and there was also double figures from Imogen Hicks – but Jodie Lewis and Carmel Kilby led the Pembroke bowling to ease them home by 16 runs.
