Ladies Cricket - Division 1 and 2 - 5th May 2026
Division One:
Burton make a brilliant start as they beat current champions Hook
Burton 79 for 4 (15) beat Hook 77 for 5 (5) by 6 wickets
Matches between these old rivals are keenly-fought and this one was no exception before Burton outfought Hook and made a great start to their campaign as the defending champions failed to set a big target and paid the price.
Put in to bat, only the ever-consistent Kate Farr and skipper Sam Rossiter ever looked settled against some tight Burton bowling led by Wella Scale, and only the fact that 23 extras accrued took Hook to a still-disappointing tally.
Then the ageless Elaine Scale, playing alongside her grandchildren, and the battling Becca Barton saw Burton home despite useful Hook bowling by Maisy Davies and Kacey Arran.
Burton Batting: Elaine Scale 26*, Becca Barton 25*
Hook Bowling: Maisy Davies 3-7, Kacey Arran 0-9
Hook Batting: Kate Farr 26*, Sam Rossiter 21
Burton Bowling: Wella Scale 4-5
Umpires: Dan Ridge & Simon Richards
Scorers: Diane Morris & Jo Kerrison
Cresselly cruise to a great season’s start
St Ishmaels 70 for 9 (3) lost to Cresselly 150 for 1 (19) by 80 runs
Cresselly showed their batting power against St Ishmaels as they built up a huge score and then kept things tight so that Tish missed out by so many runs.
Lucy Johnson, Phoenix Phillips, Meg Arthur and Zoe Minnett all reached the retirement target as only Tei Tallett struck for Tish.
Linzi Picton and Cath Orton topped the Tish batting response as Meg Arthur completed a great all-round performance for Cresselly and found support from Caitlin Lewis, Lucy Johnson and Laura Davies as Cresselly showed what a force to they are going to be if they can maintain their current line-up.
St Ishmaels Batting: Linzi Picton 19, Jo Bradshaw 10, Cath Orton 10
Cresselly Bowling: Caitlin Lewis 2-18, Laura Davies 1-7, Lucy Johnson 1-8, Meg Arthur 3-6
Cresselly Batting: Lucy Johnson 25*, Phoenix Phillips 26*, Meg Arthur 27*, Zoe Minnett 25*, Laura Davies 10, Christine Toy 10*
St Ishmaels Bowling: Tei Tallett 1-33, Rachel McGuire 0-18
Umpires: Johnny Lewis & Matthew Lewis
Scorers: Clarissa Lewis and Simon Cole
Dock win by just win run against Haverfordwest
Haverfordwest 73 for 8 (6) lost to Pembroke Dock 74 for 6 (17) by 1 run
Haverfordwest needed only four runs to win off their final over against Pembroke Dock but tight bowling and fielding saw them restricted to two singles and so the Pater club eased through to an epic win.
Sian James and Katy Gibbins had been the top Dock batters alongside a big extras total as Lowis Hughes and Kayleigh Vaughan were the main Haverfordwest bowlers but when The Town went in to bat only Ehlana Lister looked comfortable as they also received a lot of wides.
Katy Griffiths bowled really well for The Dock alongside Katie Gibbins and the mother and daughter duo of Abbey and Poppy Price.
Haverfordwest Batting: Ehlana Lister 24, Extras 29
Pembroke Dock Bowling: Poppy Price 1-5, Abbey Price 1-25, Katy Gibbins 1-16, Katie Griffiths 3-15
Pembroke Dock Batting: Sian James 14, Katie Gibbins 22*, Extras 23
Haverfordwest Bowling: Summer Smith 1-14, Kayleigh Vaughan 2-8
Umpires: Richard Scriven & Nick Daley
Scorer: Peter Kingdom
Division Two:
Whitland win well with plenty in hand
Whitland 139 for 4 (17) beat Carew 93 for 4 (6) by 46 runs
Whitland were easy winners of their match with Carew as they raced past the three-figure mark and then restricted to just short of three figures but still a lot of runs behind.
Leading the way for the Borderettes were Kelly Evans and Angharad Jenkins, with Kelly joining Liz, Zoe and Meg as wicket-takers.
Then Carew had a decent knock from Jackie Goodwin but the target was too big as Whitland built their second huge score in a powerful start to their campaign.
Whitland Batting: Kelly Evans 26*, Angharad Jenkins 28*
Carew Bowling: Alys Silcox 3-28, Freya Hicks 1-26
Carew Batting: Jackie Goodwin 28*, Nia Simes 14
Whitland Bowling: Kelly Evans 1-13, Liz Reynolds 1-17, Zoe Morris 1-25, Meg Davies 1-10
Umpires: Ben Rodea & Robbie Hicks
Scorers: Amber Rhodes & Holly Griffiths
Pembroke impress in the batting stakes
Llangwm 97 for 8 (4) lost to Pembroke 98 for 1 (18) by 1 run
Pembroke produced one of their best team performances for some time as they built a challenging total and then bowled and fielded well so that Llangwm fell just two short in a desperate late challenge.
Jamie Moseley and Kim Barnes again were the basis of Pembroke’s score alongside 30 extras before Llangwm then gave chase through Lilly Thomas and the Brick girls, aided by 26 extras, but Jamie was joined by Chloe Jones in taking two wickets to give their side a huge share of the points on offer.
Llangwm Batting: Zoe Brick 13, Lilly Thomas 26, Daisy Brick 15*, Extras 26
Pembroke Bowling: Chloe Jones 2-25, Bobby Neale 1-14, Jamie Moseley 2-13, Kim Midgley 1-13
Pembroke Batting: Jamie Moseley 25*, Kim Barnes 25*, Jodie Lewis 16* , Extras 30
Llangwm Bowling: Lilly Thomas 0-12, Zoe Brick 0-14
Umpires: Toby Asson & Josh Davies
Scorers: Sara Jeffrey and Ginny Davies
Seasiders sneak home in tight finish
Kilgetty 79 for 8 (7) lost to Saundersfoot 85 for 8 (18) by 6 runs
There was also a tight finish before Saundersfoot beat Kilgetty in a relatively low-scoring tussle.
Saundersfoot’s total owed much to Anya Beynon and Jen Thomas as Laila Lewis and Chloe Bland shared four wickets but it was a similar story when Kilgetty batted because only Laila Lewis really troubled the scorers as Ameya Neye and Talia Ennis were the pick of Saundersfoot’s batting.
In the final analysis the Lady Seasiders held their nerve a little better but were mightily pleased to squeeze home by such a small margin.
Kilgetty Batting: Laila Lewis 20
Saundersfoot Bowling: Ameya Neye 2-8, Talia Ennis 2-12
Saundersfoot Batting: Anya Beynon 16, Jen Thomas 16
Kilgetty Bowling: Laila Lewis 2-8, Chloe Bland 2-15
