Ladies Cricket - Clive Huxley Cup 2026 - Round 1

Llangwm Ladies

Clive Huxley Cup - First Round:

The first-round of this popular competition was decimated by torrential rain and unfortunately not all the teams were available the following evening, perhaps understandable if there are family or other commitments – and  under the rules those teams have to give their opponents a walk-over.

The two that did go ahead featured one of the highest-scoring ties for a long time – and certainly one of the lowest.

Llangwm ease home in high-scoring thriller

Llangwm (132 for 4) beat Pembroke Dock (131 for 3) by 6 wickets

Lilly Thomas and Pam AssonThere were runs aplenty at Pill Parks as Pembroke Dock were the visitors and rattled up a very challenging score, but with Llangwm’s top run gatherers Pam Asson and Lilly Thomas firing on all cylinders they were able to pass the Dock’s total for the loss of four wickets with just two balls remaining of a terrific duel.

Leading the way in the batting for The Dock were Abi Price, Katie Gibbins and Katie Griffiths, accompanied by a huge number of extras, but Llangwm also had their top batters in Pam Asson and Lilly Thomas – and they swept home by six wickets, although it took them until two balls left from their overs to do it!

Pembroke Dock Batting: Abby Price 32, Katy Gibbins 24, Katie Griffiths 12*,  Extras 46
Llangwm Bowling: Daisy Brick 1-21, Natalie White 1-25, Jess Ainsworth 1-27
Llangwm Batting: Pam Asson 55*, Lilly Thomas 39
Pembroke Dock Bowling: Martha Bhari 2-30, Katie Griffiths 1-27

Haverfordwest  (24 for 0) beat Kilgetty (23 all out) by 10 wickets

Lowis Hughes - 3 for 1 for HaverfordwestHaverfordwest won the toss and invited Kilgetty to bat first – and the game was quickly over as excellent bowling by The Town’s bowlers, allied to good catching, saw their opponents shot out for a low score, which  was passed in double-quick time to set up a speedy result.

Millie Pullin, and Lowis Hughes each claimed three wickets and there were two for Aesha Aziz before Lyn Ward led the run chase.

It was hard-going for Kilgetty but they needn’t be too despondent because as they gain experience, they will make big improvements and will go from strength to strength!

Haverfordwest Bowling:  Millie Pullin 3-7, Lowis Hughes 3-1, Aesha Aziz 2-3
Haverfordwest Batting: Lyn Ward 16*
