Tish juniors are up and running again!

Johnny Lewis and his young players at Tish

St Ishmaels Cricket Club recently held a very successful junior presentation evening, which was very well attended, with parents continuing the wonderful support they have given all season.

The cricket section is extremely indebted to Jonny Lewis & his wife Clarissa for giving so much of their time to ensure that the club now has a junior section.  We have been without juniors since 2012 having fielded an Under 11 side for the last time in 2006.

Our senior cricketers have worked hard to encourage youngsters since we took up the All Stars program in 2016.  This program, along with help and support from Martin Jones and Keri Chanal, was instrumental in getting our youngsters interested in playing cricket.

Because of the dedication and enthusiasm of Jonny & Clarissa our youngsters, Under 9s and Under 11s, have played so much cricket this season and the future is looking very promising.

Brief summary of events from Jonny

Jonny gave a brief résumé of the season’s successes and asked Phil Cockburn, 1st Team Captain, to present a medal to each junior. Then trophies were awarded as follows:

Parents’ Player U9 Charlie Welch & Dillon Lewis   U11 Tia Williams

Coach’s Player U9 Rossi Ninnis   U11 Alfie Thomas

Most Improved U9 Morgan Britton   U11 Dylan McGuire

He then gave ‘thank you’ gifts to Wendy Bradshaw and to Mel Williams for all his hard work in preparing the field for every game & training session.

The evening concluded with a BBQ, and a great deal of talk about next season.

May we express our grateful thanks to the following for their generous sponsorship of our juniors:-

Mr Graham Ninnis of G & G Paintworks for sponsoring all the trophies and medals

Mrs Lisa Lewellin of The Hake Inn, Milford Haven

Mr & Mrs John Llewellin
