Owain’s playing well for The Haverfordwest Academy as he leads by example

Owain with his trophy at Haverfordwest CountyName: No 8 - Owain Banner

Clubs played for: Haverfordwest County Academy Under 12s, Pembrokeshire Schools Under 12s, Fishguard & Goodwick RFC Under 12s.

People who have helped me: My mum Melanie, who does a great job of taking me to all the matches, especially with the Haverfordwest Academy for away games. At the Academy my coaches are Martyn Lewis and Mikey Loveridge who are brilliant coaches and Mikey also coaches me with Pembrokeshire Schools alongside Matthew Price. In rugby with Fishguard my coach is Martin Davies, and Niall Kinsella, my former coach for Fishguard AFC; I think they all do a great job.

Football:
Fishguard Sports:
I used to play football as a centre midfielder with Fishguard Sports Juniors, coached by Niall Kinsella, but I can’t play there now because of the Academy rules that mean I can only play for one team.

Pembrokeshire Schools Under 12s, It is great to be part of the County Schools team and we are a great team - one of my favourite memories is when we went to play in a tournament at the King Power Stadium where Leicester City play.

Owain recognised by Pembrokeshire SchoolsThere were lots of teams there and it was amazing to change in the same rooms as players like Jamie Vardy do on Saturdays - and I was captain of the team, which made it even better.

Haverfordwest County Academy Under 12s:
We train every Tuesday and Thursday evening and we play on Sundays. For away games we have to travel to Barry, Cardiff, Newport, Pontypridd, Penybont and Rhondda - and I’m lucky that mum likes to drive me everywhere to cheer me on because it is such a long way.

Ysgol Bro Gwaun: We beat Ysgol Dinefwyr in the Welsh cup and it went to a penalty shoot-out - and I managed to score the winning penalty.

Rugby: I play for Fishguard & Goodwick juniors and enjoy myself in the centre but games often clash with academy so I often am unable to play which I’m disappointed about.

Swimming: I really enjoy swimming and after winning at county level a couple of years ago I went to the Welsh Finals in Cardiff but again I had to stop because I couldn’t fit it in as I’m busy with football.

Best Moments:
Going to the King Power Stadium in Leicester was something I will never forget.
I was also picked as ‘Players’ Player of the Year’ for Fishguard, Pembrokeshire Schools and the academy last season. I’m very proud of this. I have the best coaches that help me be best I can be.

Favourite famous sports people:
Football: Gareth Bale and Nico Williams
Rugby: Dan Bigger and Louis Rees -Zammit

Ambitions: To continue enjoying football and aim to reach the highest level I can.
