Hook (127-3) beat Whitland (71-8) by 56 runs

Runners-Up WhitlandThis year’s Under 13s Final was between the top two sides in Zone A & B, with Hook having tied one game in the group Stage and Whitland being undefeated.  Hook defeated Kilgetty in the semi-finals with Whitland having a walk over in their semi.

Captain of Whitland, Harry Fuller, won the toss and asked his counterpart from Hook, Seth Willington to bat.

Hook’s experience put to good use

The experienced opening bats of Hook, Lewis Miller (25 retired) and Lucas Davies (17) made good progress until the intervention of Harry Fuller, who captured the wicket of Davies with the aid of a catch by Jai Hogben.

A mix up in the running saw Hook’s captain Willington run out by a good throw by Hogben  but Harry  Makepeace (28 retired) and Dylan James (18) continued the good work for Hook until  James was bowled by  Hogben. Liam Miller (11 not out) and Josh Silk (3 not out) took the Hook score to 127 after their 20 overs.

Umpires John Williams and Denis ChiffiTough task for Whitland as Hook bowl well

This was always going to be a tough ask for a young Whitland team but Harry Fuller (25 retired) led the way, together with Jai Hogben (9)  with Ethan Ryan and Cai Lewis batting well at the end for Whitland, who ended on 71.

The Hook team all bowled well with Lucas Davies and Lewis Miller picking up  the early wickets, Ollie  Rees claiming two in the middle, with Liam Miller getting in on the act. It was great to see the Hook triplets of Bailey, Noah and Troy also picking up a wicket each. Special mention also to Josh Silk and Oscar Willington, who fielded really well.

Thus it was Hook that run out winners against a Whitland team that never gave up trying and gave 100% on the night.
