Children's chess tournament hailed a success

Chess - Trophy Winners with Alexis Harakis (Fide Master) and Ian Eustis (Junior Director of Welsh Chess)

After an incredible day of chess they had to play an extra round of games to determine the winner – with Henry Burton eventually proclaimed the winner, closely followed by three competitors tied for second place in Genula Wickramaarachchi (Prendergast School), Huw Holliday and Harry Hayden.

The ‘David Pinch Award’ for excellent sportsmanship went to Ellie Dean (Saundersfoot CP School) and congratulations go to all those schools whose teams attended.

Such was the success of the competition that everyone has been invited back for another tournament on Saturday, 23rd March.

Lastly, a huge thank you goes out to all the parents who helped out, Ian Eustis (Junior Director of the Welsh Chess Union), Fide Master Alexis Harakis, Scott Hammett and Gwyn.
